Dorian has weakened to category 4

Epoch Times:

Update: Sept. 2, 11:15 ET

Hurricane Dorian, while continuing to batter the Bahamas with life-threatening winds and storm surge, has weakened very slightly to a Category 4 storm.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said in an advisory at 11 a.m. EDT that Dorian’s maximum sustained winds are 155 mph, which takes the extremely dangerous storm down one notch, from Category 5.

The storm was expected to continue inflicting devastation on Grand Bahama Island throughout Monday.

The center said the storm will move “dangerously close” to the Florida East Coast late Monday through Wednesday evening.

A hurricane warning along Florida’s east coast has been extended northward to the Flagler-Volusia county line. A hurricane watch has been extended northward to Altamaha Sound in Georgia.

The storm’s center was located about 30 miles northeast of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, and about 110 miles (180 miles) east of West Palm Beach, Florida. read more

  1. Trump said he’d never heard of a CAT 5 on record before so naturally the media had to pounce saying at least 3 happened recently. What they failed to say was that happened temporarily while they were at sea not when they made landfall. The press is dishonest as hell.

    12
  2. In a case like this, responsible media would drop the political horseshit and concentrate on keeping the potential victims of this storm alert and aware of the dangers. Too bad MSM is irresponsible and worthless.

  3. Sorry to be the cynic in the crowd, but the European prediction models have had the path going north up the coast staying in the Atlantic almost from the git-go.

I don’t want to minimize the concern and precaution necessary for a hurricane – especially for those living in these areas – but predicting landfall in Dade and/or Broward County is good for US weather station ratings, and the financial incentive to “cry wolf” is sadly too great to discount.

The European prediction models have historically been more accurate. You connect the dots.

  4. Pray for the people in the Bahamas. I can’t imagine what it is like to live through a strong storm for such a long duration.

Beach Girl and I have been staying at my home near the SE Georgia coast since Thursday. The governor ordered mandatory evacuations for everyone east of I-95, but only a few of my neighbors have left. The ones leaving are old timers who have been through a few hurricanes.

I can’t be sure where this storm is going, and although we are at 30 feet above sea level, I feel it’s better to be safe than sorry. Beach Girl and I are out of here in the early morning. Hopefully the winds won’t do much damage.

  5. Fraudulent reports are standard for government officials and complicit MSM.
Article written by a survivor with photos included to show what a Cat 5+ disaster really is like. Complete destruction of the WHOLE hurricane zone. Nothing left standing!!

    The Hurricane Andrew cover-up
The authorities grossly understated the death toll from hurricane Andrew, the worst natural disaster in US history, and left thousands of survivors to die in a zone contaminated by radiation.

“THE EMERGENCY ALERT THAT CAME TOO LATE
The largest natural disaster ever recorded in the history of the United States was hurricane Andrew, which struck South Dade County, Florida, as midnight turned the clock into August 24, 1992. Contrary to what the American news media broadcast across the United States and throughout Europe, the first outer wall of the hurricane unexpectedly slammed into South Dade, packing 214+ mph winds which quickly escalated to 350+ mph. Most of the 414,151 residents living in the danger zone were asleep when the outer wall struck. Thousands of them lost their lives, for no one in South Dade had been evacuated or even advised to evacuate. Instead, residents had been repeatedly informed by local news media that South Dade should expect to experience “50 mph winds”.”

  6. Yep Mortgages for the Masses better to be safe then sorry,if this thing hugs the coast line it will do a lot of damage for hundreds of miles.
Even thou it is a Cat 4 and will get weaker as it moves to cooler water the storm surge and the rain (flooding) is what kills most people.
This storm is so big that even if it is a hundred miles off of the coast it will still lash all of the coast line with hurricane force winds and thank God it will be the western side not the eastern side, the fast side. Good luck.

  7. Born and raised native Floridian here. No one who has not been through a hurricane can have any realization of the destructive power, nor how completely the loss of electricity turns everything into “Alas Babylon” or “One Second After”…potentially for weeks or months.
Refugeeing Northbound seems like a tough call—I-95 could become overwhelmed and Dorian may be right behind you all the way. Florida’s a long state to drive out of.
Procrastinating by “ watching and waiting” for the next update seems reasonable until you discover times up, interstates are clogged and you are trapped.
I’ve toughed it out through several of these. I won’t push my luck for Dorian.
If I lived on the Atlantic coast, right now I’d be driving westbound for the other side of the state.
    Stay safe, everyone.

  8. Just watched top of the hour report on Fox News chan.
Can’t take it anymore. Might as well watch msNBC.
The anchor Jon Scott was such a gloom and doom, fud and disinfo spreader, that I couldn’t take anymore.

He challanges every interviewee who doesn’t gloom enough with him. A live report from someone close to the Bahama governors office said there were 5 deaths there. The anchor interrupted the caller to remind the caller WHO LIVES THERE that there must be more deaths somewhere because there are more islands that have not reported any deaths. Not kidding. Rewind your DVR to 9PM EST and watch 5 minutes worth if you can take it.

The same anchor did the same thing yesterday with the Odessa Mayor who had called to give the word that the shooter was down. The anchor challanged him when the mayor said the scene was secure because another earlier misinfo report said there were TWO SHOOTERS and the anchor was sure there was more DEATH AND DESTRUCTION somewhere that the Mayor must be hiding. Again, not kidding.

And we wonder why people think everything sucks.
This guy does nothing but spread suck.
It’s because of anchors like Jon Scott.
COMING UP after the break. . . More Death and Destruction.

  9. Don’t watch any TV news affiliated programs on TV nor online. These people are emo vultures.
Stick to NOAA. That’s where they all get their info from anyway, and then throw their own sauce on it.
Some assmonkey 3 days ago on MSLSD said there was going to be 3-5 billion dollars worth of damage.
Weather media only exists to scare the elderly and annoy everyone else.

Sorry Even if deaths attributed to Hurricane Andrew were under reported by a factor of 1oo Andrew would still be relatively low on the death scale of natural disasters in the US. 26 deaths is the official count for Andrew The lake Okeechobee Hurricane in 1928 Killed at least 2000 (probably closer to 7000 the exact number is unknown) the 1935 labor day hurricane in the florida Keys killed several hundred “bonus Marchers”/ veterans working on a railroad line in the Keys
and was the Strongest hurricane to ever make landfall anywhere.

the 1900 Galveston Hurricane (Issac’s storm) was the deadliest natural disaster in US History by far with more than 10,000 dead

  11. @tRUTH

As fro Conspiracy theories try this one

The reason that Dorian didn’t follow the expected track and instead stalled over the Bahama’s is because the New world order controllers stalled it there right over Jeffry Epstien’s Island to give people on the ground there time to eliminate evidence of Satanic abuse of Children by the royal family clinton’s and all the other new world order leaders before the FBI had a chance to collect all thoSe DVD AND TAPES.
