PJM: Dr. Anthony Fauci says it might be necessary for Washington to impose a mask mandate on all 50 states, given the worrisome rise in coronavirus cases across the U.S. Fauci made the remarks during an interview on CNN.

Previously Fauci had opposed a federal mask mandate as unworkable and unenforceable.

CNN:

 Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has been urging Americans to use masks for months. “I have trust in the American people that if we put a strong emphasis on the importance of wearing masks, that we will come around and do that and get that percentage up above the relatively low percentage of people that are using masks,” Fauci said on July 21 on NPR’s Morning Edition.

But he has said before that he doesn’t think a federal law would be the way to go.

Earlier this month, a poll found 92 percent of Americans believing that wearing a mask was a good idea. But only about 60 percent wear one. Changing people’s minds about wearing a mask outdoors will be difficult as long as we’re getting mixed messages from public health professionals. more

    You wanna wear a mask? Fine. If they actually did anything, you wearing one should be enough, right? Don’t feel safe wearing a mask? Then wear 3 or 4 and stfu.

  23. Hell in my travels alone I’ve probably seen with my own eyes at least 10% of the population not wearing a mask, so I call bullshit on this poll. More and more people are realizing this was all bullshit.

    My daughter was telling me tonight about her in-laws, one in particular who has been terrified of the virus, wears a mask in stores and when in close contact with anyone. The other has thought it was bullshit and really thinks it’s bullshit now. Both of these are registered democrats, although the one who hasn’t bought the bullshit is a Trump supporter, the other has never said. They went to a party, one of the men a few days after the party starting feeling like he had a cold so his dumbass went and got tested and tested positive.
    Then his dumbass gave them the name of the woman who had the party and said she would know all the names. Health Dept. contacted her told her she had to be tested, she still has had no symptoms but tested positive. She provided all the names. The one who believed all the bullshit about stroked out, got tested and told it was positive. The other wasn’t going to get tested but the health dept. called his employer and employer demanded he be tested. He tested positive, again no symptoms.

    They had to wait two weeks and get retested and magically it was negative. When they both received their test results in the mail, the first test was not shown to show positive or negative, 2nd tested showed negative.

    That’s how ignorant that shit is. I tell everyone that comes around me that if they’re the type to go get tested and started naming names they best stay away because they will find out I’m not a nice person when you piss me off.

    Pence should have never put this idiot or the female version of him on the task force.

  24. I have been working hard to control my swearing. So I’m not going to type what I would really like to say about that little twerp. I refused to be tested when I donated blood. That’s the only time I will wear a mask too. And I will not take a vaccine. Period. They will have to knock me out to give it to me.

    My Dad was stationed at Ramstein AFB from 60 to 63 and in the event of a nuclear attack by the USSR we were supposed to hide under our desks! About a half an inch of particle board and some thin-gauge steel was going to save us – seemed pretty fucking stupid even to a 9 year old.
    Those unscheduled drills used to scare the shit outta me.
