It’s not limited to vaccines, science, engineering, medicine in general, the clergy, you name it. It is ubiquitous any more. It is a function of where the money comes from. I worked with an engineer, actually not an engineer, he was not licensed. Funny how there are exemptions in government agencies that allow for that. Yea, real funny. He had previously worked for a private firm and they did a study on the effect of restricting semi trucks to the far right hand lane on interstate highways vs allowing them to use any lane. WSDOT commissioned the project and the trucking industry was a funding partner. Shazam, isn’t it amazing. No difference. It is throughout the engineering profession that this shit goes on.
OK, Washington State Professional Licensing Board exam. Four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon. At 10:15 after two hours I went to the proctor. Do you need to use the restroom? No, I’m done, worked the problems backward and checked my answers and they are all correct. Can I leave and come back at 1:00? 4:00 rolls around and I’m thinking I can beat rush hour traffic and I know I got all but two of the questions correct, so I don’t need them anyway. The test is four multiple choice answers per question and I can eliminate two from the get go. I can take a WAG and have a 50/50 chance of getting one of them right and I don’t need it anyway.
The shit ain’t that hard folks. All you have to do is to have done a bit of study. What you have in these positions that can’t pass a simple test to make sure you can at the very least make it look like you are competent. Government agencies are chock a block loaded with dunderheads who don’t even know how stupid they are. There were people working in engineering positions who had absolutely no idea what the risks even were and were perfectly happy signing off on any goddamn cockamamie bullshit the powers that be wanted.
