Dr. Phil speaks out- About free speech

Constitution.com:

The famed Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on Fox and Friends early this morning to talk about the outburst of violence from those on the left. Particularly, Dr. Phil has been troubled by the attempts of America’s young people to shut down the speech of people that they may not necessarily agree with. McGraw considers it a gross overreaction to the left’s recent political losses and he spends a few minutes roundly criticizing the attack on free speech, as well as the violence used by leftists to silence their opponents.

“I’m troubled by that, I’m troubled by either side. Look, we have the right… everybody has the right to protest, and do it peacefully. We’re guaranteed that right, but… if somebody starts doing things, talking about things that you don’t like, and you start threatening, you start putting people’s lives in danger.

  1. I watched Quick Draw McGraw’s interview yesterday and I was not impressed. “If we can survive civil war, we can survive Trump”… as if Trump is some terrible force against which we need to survive. To me he did his best to straddle the fence and not offend his leftist overlords. The Fox staff cut him off pretty quickly after his statement.

  2. Afterthought – his primary purpose of appearing on Fox yesterday was NOT to talk about free speech – it was about a weird family issue to be presented on one of his upcoming shows. It looked like Fox threw the free speech question in as a time filler.

  3. @flip – funny you mention Dr. Phil’s reason for being on the show. A friend was on Fox a couple of years ago. The real reason was to promote his website (which just happens to be the link I have in my name here!) But they can’t put him on for that. So they asked him a question about the Iranians putting a monkey into space, because he has some engineering smarts, and then threw in the question about ‘what are you working on?’
