Drug Dealers Take Over San Francisco’s Main Library

DC: The outside area of San Francisco’s Main Public Library has become a regular meeting point between drug dealers and drug users, The San Francisco Standard reported Monday.

Ted Disbennett, a 36-year-old homeless man, told the outlet that he and others were forced to move from place to place since a drug crackdown began in May and that the library had become the most recent gathering place for the drug peddler and the addict.  more here

  1. The article sounds like this is something new. The SF main library was surrounded by shit, both human and intestinal, and used drug paraphernalia when I first visited the place in 2004. What’s changed?

  2. Al: in the late 90s, accompanied by my late Father in law(who was born in SF, but moved away in the 1940s) we took the BART from Concord to Market Street. When we got to the top of the stairs, we were so disgusted, we turned around and took the next train back to Concord.

  3. I seem to remember hearing years ago hearing about a case of a very foul smelling, stinky, homeless guy who haunted libraries to stay warm and be off the streets that a judge ruled that Mr. Stinko had a constitutional right to stink and that the library couldn’t evict him. I can’t even remember how they resolved this. I might have heard this on Rush’s radio program. It stinks to high hell that stinky, homeless bums have more rights than normal citizens do anymore because of idiotic rulings by liberal, progtard judges.
