DuckDuckGo Search Engine CEO Announces Changes to Internet Search Algorithms to Promote Approved Content

CTH:
The information war continues raging….

On one battlefront, we have Elon Musk trying to push back against quasi-government control mechanisms that constrict information and the flow of discussion and ideas.  On a lesser, albeit similar battlefield, we see this.

DuckDuckGo used to be the preferred search engine for those who wanted privacy on-line and unfiltered, i.e. organic, search engine responses.  Unfortunately, CEO Gabriel Weinberg is now stating he will change the algorithm to remove independent information and media outlets and will replace them with only approved MSM results.

“Like so many others I am sickened by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the gigantic humanitarian crisis it continues to create. #StandWithUkraine️,” Weinberg tweeted on Wednesday. “At DuckDuckGo, we’ve been rolling out search updates that down-rank sites associated with Russian disinformation.”

  1. Their big claim was being the privacy option vs always tracking Google. I’m sure that is gone as well. I noticed over the last few months the searches on many things are producing Google like results.

  2. This is so typical. Every time a new platform is made combat big tech fascism, it just gets bought out and taken over by the same big tech fascist cabal. And most of the compromising is engineered by the new hires acquired as the platform expands, all the fruits of college brainwashing.

  3. DDG always ran off of Google algorithms. They played coy just long enough to buildup their own search results bank.
Although they claimed to not track you, (all the while accepting “donations”…b’cause freedoms or something), I ceased using them when it became obvious they were just Google 2.0 without the pretty colors.

  4. There are more and more search engines popping up. They all have advantages and disadvantages, so you have to do a little research.
There are “meta search” engines which get some results from other engines (bing, google, scopia, etc.) as well as doing some of their own crawling. These include engines like MetaGer, SwissCows, Qwant, the now dreaded DuckDuckGo, etc.)
There are also engines that do their own crawlers. The issue with these is that they haven’t quite reached the breadth of sites, but they are closing in fast. These include Mojeek and Brave Search.

  5. Hi boys and girls. As an expert on looking for things on line that have a specialized interest I recommend that you just go to pornhub and type in what it is you want. I mean, what the F would you be looking for on line other than “you know what”

  6. I’m with Forgotonia & JP, I went with search.brave.com/. Not bad so far.

We need to say far, far away from these spies.

    Say your prayers everyday!

    God Bless us all!

    HAPPY EASTER!!!

  7. As with many other entities, duckduckgo’s Weinberg was paid by the left to fall in with them. Dumped the thing when I read of their targeting and squashing reliable data and info from credible sources. We’ll see how well ‘brave’ search works out since they’re still beta.

  8. I used to be able to search out different sources from all sides of a topic and run it through my own “bullshit sieve” in my head . I don’t like the idea of guided group thought .

  9. I’m going to be real blunt: FRACK OFF, DUCK DUCK BLOW! I PROMOTED YOU AND USED YOU AND TALKED YOU UP. NOW, YOU GO AND DO THIS FRACKING GARBAGE? I’M DONE WITH YOU. GO FRACK YOURSELF DRY! “APPROVED CONTENT” IS ANOTHER WAY TO SPELL LIES AND POLITICALLY CONTROLLED PROPAGANDA.
