Eight Injured Amid High Surf Warnings In Ventura, California

GP: In an unexpected and terrifying event, a rogue wave crashed onto a Ventura beach this Thursday morning, resulting in injuries to eight people and prompting officials to issue high surf warnings and close local beaches.

At the end of Seward Avenue, where the wave struck with full force, bystanders were taken by surprise.

Among them was Colin Hoag, who was on a morning run when he witnessed the terrifying scene.

“My first thought was, get out of the way of this,” Hoag told NBC Los Angeles. “This is Mother Nature. You can’t stop her. She’ll plow through anything.” more here

  2. I’m thinking Benito the bandito will back me here. I’m a Cali Native. Parents met at North American Aviation in the early fifties. They worked swing and when they got off work they’d sleep on the beach. Where I’m pretty sure is where I was conceived because of my sandy disposition. LOL, kind of. My point is, if you heard Rogue Wave back then you’d be headed for the hills. Years later, Santa Cruz Cali. Same thing. Rogue wave, I’m gone. These peeps in the article are from Kentucky.

oh, I didn’t realize that putting my house on the path of an active volcano would create such a problem for my dog’s daily routine … who knew he’d be barbeque?

Gawd, these people need to get to their nearest pharmacy & get their stupid pills before we run out … ’cause God knows we don’t want to run out of stupid people.

  4. @¡BENITO THE BOMBED BEANER!: Yep, they were warned over and over to stay away from the beach. A man took his granddaughter out 2 weeks ago to look at the waves. Creeper wave took them both – never found them.

Like, you be sittin’ there enjoying the beach and like, chillin’ out, and then, like clear outta the blue comes those nasty waves all mad and stuff like a bunch of angry boys.
