NYPost– A multi-vehicle crash in Florida involving a bus believed to be carrying “migrant workers” killed eight people and left 45 others injured on Tuesday, police said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said a school bus carrying 53 people was involved in the fatal wreck on State Road 40 in Marion County around 6:30 a.m.
The bus was carrying migrant workers who were on route to a watermelon farm, police said, with Marion County Public Schools officials confirming that no students were involved in the crash. more

Callous, but my first thought was “There’s eight less mouths I have to feed”.
Its been reported locally that these are legal migrant workers with proper docs and sponsor to pick the produce. It’s been happening in all my >60 years. Used to be a few gathering places were appointed every time stuff needed picked from the fields and a bus would come round and pick up us kids that wanted to work. Paid by the box volume picked daily. I done it some and it was hard work. Kids willing to work hard go less and less. 50+ years ago.
