Tech billionaire Elon Musk has warned Texas that Austin is running the risk of becoming a “copycat” of liberal San Francisco.
The Tesla founder said the Lone Star State’s capital needs to find its own identity before it ends up turning into a clone of the far-left California city.
Musk issued the warning in response to a Fox News article about how Democrat-controlled Austin made “the largest cut” to its police budget “of any major city in America.”
“Austin implemented one of the biggest police budget cuts,” journalist Zaid Jilani wrote in a tweet that linked to the report. “Their homicide rate soared over the next year, and today the surge is larger than most of the country,” he added. “Now, voters will decide whether to boost the ranks of the police.” more
A little late for that warning. Austin has had the SF/Silicon Valley infection since Apple setup shop in ’92. It was great for Austin in the beginning,I-35 as wide as the I-5 in CA., as new money poured in but that money brought it’s “consequences” with it. Now Austin is an odd shade of indigo about to circle back to blue.
I agree with Elon, but how to stop it? All the best places have been ruined by progressives.
