Well. Papa John’s is now hated left and right. Will they survive?
Breitbart: Papa John’s founder John Schnatter has stepped down as CEO of the company he founded, two months after criticizing the NFL’s handling of the player-led anthem protests.
Schnatter made comments critical of NFL leadership, and their handling of the NFL anthem protest issue, in November.
At the time, Papa John’s Senior Vice President of Marketing Robert Thompson said, “The NFL is crucial to Papa John’s business. The company began its partnership with the NFL in 2010 and has ‘Preferred Pizza’ partnerships with 23 NFL teams. Last year, the company signed a multi-year partnership with the NFL and the Super Bowl.
“Our partnership with the NFL, in particular, has been exceptional. One of the reasons the NFL is such a strong marketing opportunity is because of the number of people that watch the games live whether it be at home or in the stadium.”
Schnatter said in a company conference call, “The controversy is polarizing the customer, polarizing the country.”
Papa John’s cited falling sales, as the impetus behind their concerns, and decision to speak out against NFL leadership. However, after the company received a significant backlash from the media, in addition to Nazi websites labeling the company the “official Pizza of the Alt-Right,” Papa John’s backtracked. read more

How about plain old bad pizza and bad decisions (hooking up with the NFL)? Maybe that explains the company’s slide. If it goes under, who will notice?
I am lucky to have a great family-owned pizza and sub place nearby.
Thank you to Jack, Mary and the boys!

Blame the NFL for falling sales DUMMIES! That was the whole point of commenting about the kneelers wasn’t it? People aren’t buying CHICKEN WINGS, BEER, CHIPS, and PIZZA.
It wasn’t your comments about idiots that is to blame, it’s the IDIOTS! Have the courage to point that out and step down from nothing.
Cash out Papa. Take the money and run. Fuck the NFL.
The newly unveiled NFL: can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em.
The NFL is at least as intelligent as a tackling dummy!
Justice for Papa John!
J u s t i c e!
(His company should’ve stood by him. Smh.)
That weren’t no tackling dummy!
That thar’s a Tar Baby he done fooled with!
When will they ever learn?
Yer getting paid to sell pizza, not to play silly social justice warrior games!
Only had Papa John’s pizza one time. Several kinds were delivered to a Senior Center, in West Seattle. I thought it was horrible pizza. Tasted like it contained old NFL jockstraps.
Papa John’s is about 4th on my to go list – the 1st three are good old American (Italian Immigrant run) local pizza shops.
Considered Papa John’s after the digs at NFL – now not ever!
Had it once some years ago, was NOT impressed at all. Had better out of the supermarket freezer case.
don’t know what all the bitchin’ is about … have NEVER had great delivery pizza … EVER! … it’s like good Chinese delivery … what did you expect? … ain’t gonna happen.
with delivery pizza you have to order extra sauce just to drown the dough & get some flavor … Papa John’s, Pizza Oven (garbage on a crust), Domino’s (pepperoni only), Little Caesar’s (actually LC ain’t too bad; but ain’t around my area any more) … the only good pizzas are take-out from Ledo’s (sugary sauce, great toppings, flakey dough) & Three Brother (NY style, plain … over garlicy, but nice thin dough)
frozen supermarket …. might as well eat cardboard w/ ketchup
@Will: Damn – you done broke de code on their secret ingredient!
Tony’s New York Pizza, at the Fair Lakes shopping center is the only Pizza I get for carry out. Phuck the major delivery chains. It may cost more, but I get what I pay for.
This is what happens when people believe fake news.
My go-to pizza place started as a food truck that hung out at the primo brewery/distillery in Kendall Co.
They have a full-on restaurant now, and their stuff is so good I can’t even look a PJ, Domino’s or Pizza Hut pizza in the face now.
