Expediting Deportation, Using Carrots and Sticks

American Thinker

By Ned Barnett

How do you deport the roughly twenty million individuals living illegally in the United States?  For a lot of reasons, this will be a huge challenge, and likely a costly one – when was the last time the government did anything even remotely correct without it busting the budget?

Well, for one thing, you could try offering incentives for people to make their deportation easier than it might otherwise have been.

Trump and his new Border Czar have agreed that the top priority will be removing illegals who either committed crimes before they came to the United States or – and this is the top priority – those who have committed crimes since coming to the United States.  Since these are people likely to strongly resist such deportations, this will represent a challenge to the Border Guards and ICE Agents who will have to deal with it in practical terms.

But what about the other twenty million or so people in the U.S. illegally?  How about this: more

  1. Stop the financial assistance immediately.
When they start gnawing on sticks wishing it was a carrot they’ll start leaving themselves for the most part.
While they begin self deportation you can focus on the employed ones stealing jobs and work out from there.
That would out a big dent in the situation.

  2. All good ideas but the administration of the results will cost trillions to oversee….Cut off all welfare, EBT cards etc…Any free shit goes away……Anyone who employs an illegal is fined $100K per person for each and every employee and if that doesn’t work then the employer gets 90 days in prison for each and every violation. No more bullshit…

  3. I’m with Different Tim.
Shut off the Federal Freebie Spout.
EBT, WIC, education, housing (especially the free hotels), VISA, health care and insurance, ALL OF IT.
The sanctuary states may do as they please, but without Uncle Sugar refilling the purse, all the freebies will grind to a halt most ricky-tic.
And without the money incentive to stay, most illegals will vamoose.

Oh, and while we’re talking about turning off the FedGov money spout, do the same for the NGOs that aided, abetted, and brought a large portion of these illegals into the country in the first place.

  4. Firstly, that number is closer to 40 million. Yep cut all aid. States and cities that want to be sanctuary, cool, you don’t get federal money either. For anything.

In our prison system? Its like the dog pound. If nobody claims you in 10 days, off to the vet you go.

Carrot is we fly you to home country. Stick is you get off, but we’re not landing.

  5. “Anyone who employs an illegal is fined $100K per person for each and every employee …”

“Anyone who employs an illegal is fined $100K per person for each and every employee PER DAY …”

    Fixed it for ya!

Cut off the free-stuff spigot, seize ALL their assets (which may be returned upon repatriation), charge them for the costs of deporting them and/or imprisoning them until deportation.

Give them 30 days to self-deport and then get serious.

  6. what’s wrong with deporting to entry point? allow our neighboring country’s pick up the tab for their own choices. same with the fentanyl, dump it in the entry point country. think it would be strong message. the entry point country could then pay for returning to country of origin. strong borders are based on having strong neighbors. “good fences make good neighbors”. some financial responsibility must be given to america for its lack of fence maintenance. good neighbors usually split the cost for fence maintenance. if my dog kills the neighbors chickens, i pay, and visa versa. we have a lot dead chickens on this side of the fence. simple and effective. the touche to the cartels chinese deep pockets.
