CBS:
Larry Storch, the rubber-faced comic whose long career in theater, movies and television was capped by his “F Troop” role as zany Cpl. Agarn in the 1960s spoof of Western frontier TV shows, has died. Storch was 99.
Storch died of natural causes early Friday in his New York City apartment, according to his manager, Matt Beckoff.
Although “F Troop” lasted only two seasons on ABC, from 1965 to 1967, it became a cult favorite in reruns. Its devoted fans could recite almost all of the adventures of the incredibly incompetent soldiers of Fort Courage and the members of the nearby Native American tribe who only pretended to be at war with them. more
Sad day for us all.
RIP
RIP Larry…Thanks for all you did!
Wow. 99! Rest In Peace, Larry
Loved him especially when he played the driving instructor on an episode of Columbo and also a South American general on Gomer Pyle.
Mentioned this at work today.
Not a one of them knew what F-troop was or who I was talking about. Their loss.
RIP
Lived F Troop!
RIP, Larry. Thanks for the memories.
RIP
Enjoyed his work.
I though he would live forever.
He was also in a couple of episodes of Car 54, Where Are You.
Funny story regarding F-Troop, although not involving Larry Storch:
When Melody Patterson signed the contract as Wrangler Jane, she was only 16. She was only 17 when the first season was filmed. That season, Captain Parmenter would not go near Jane with a ten foot pole. The second season Patterson was 18 — and Jane and Parmenter were all lovey-dovey
Loved ftroop.
“F Troop was a favorite for my brother and me. RIP Larry Storch.
RIP Larry Storch
F Troop was certainly an iconic program and Col Agarn was the funniest guy on the program.
Thanks Larry you were a class act and brought us a lot of humor and warmth.
Storch was a talented comedic actor. One of his characters on “Car 54 Where Are You?” was a alcoholic who when sober could, just by thinking about drinking turn back into a mean drunk – that takes skills.
Another fun character he played was a chimpanzee on “I Dream of Jeannie”. He nailed it to perfection.
He was a nervous, stressed out driving instructor on a episode of “Columbo”. Another great performance.
What a blessing it is to live till 99, be in general good health and leave peacefully in your sleep. RIP, Mr. Storch.
F-Troop of course. But I also remember him as Texas Jack in “The Great Race”.
“NOOOOOOOOOW kin I get me some elbow room??!!??”
One of my favorite memories in high school marching band was playing the F-Troop theme song in the stairwell when going from the bandroom out to the field during football games. Very easy to play on a clarinet and sounded great echoing in the stairwell. Fellow band members were pissed off until I told them the football team was F-Troop, not us. I only remember our team winning one game in the two years I was in marching band.
