The family of Walter Wallace Jr., who was fatally shot by Philadelphia police, does not want the officers charged with murder, a lawyer for the family said Thursday.
Attorney Shaka Johnson said the Wallace family doesn’t want the two responding officers to face such charges because they were improperly trained and didn’t have the right equipment to deal with the situation, in which Wallace, who had mental health issues, moved toward them Monday afternoon with a knife before being shot.
Video from police body-cameras released Thursday show Wallace emerging from a house with a knife as relatives shout at officers about his mental health condition, Johnson, who saw the video before its public release, told the Associated Press.
Still blaming the police! didn’t have the right training? What shoot him in the leg?
I’m not dying because your loved one suffers from “mental health issues.” If the family cared, they’d have committed the guy to a health care facility. As it is, society preferred to release all the mentally aberrant from the mental hospitals; now we get to enjoy the ‘homeless,’ more violent crime, and policemen shooting our ‘loved ones’ who are attacking them with deadly instruments.
The Philly guys are some of the last remaining policeMEN left in the US. Police across the country are leaving in droves, through retirement, transfer, or career change; good luck finding replacements. YOYO.

Police have the perfect tools to deal with threats such as this. It’s just a shame that, in so many situations, they fail to use them. Personally, I would think the parents should be held responsible, for allowing their idiot offspring to run loose.
From what I understand the guy had a lengthy arrest record behind him.
So, mentally ill or not but especially if he was mentally ill, why was he running loose among us without any supervision?
All these incidents seem to have a similar story, and all of them could have been prevented from happening in the first place if the legal and mental health systems were functional systems.

…maybe in a saner age, but even back when I was driving the Crazy Train to General Hospital, involuntary commits almost NEVER worked even when the COPS tagged someone in after a violent incident.
And at that point, 25 or so years ago, they had ALREADY closed the looney bins, turning them inside-out like used socks, dumping the legitimately crazy first into the fiction of “community based mental health care”, then into the streets, thus causing the modern-day “homeless crisis” because the crazy could NOT function on their own, the end result being that there’s no place to commit them TO.
…you see, there was this movie where Jack Nicholson played a crazy guy that a nurse was mean to, and Democrats used it to convince idiots that Cracker Keepers were ALL just old meanies like that Nurse Rached, and that the big Indian fellow at the end would be just FINE on his own if they’d just not try to keep him, so of COURSE there was nothing that could be done but shut down the only institutions that kept crazy people safe from themselves AND us safe from THEM, thus creating a new dependant class of people for Democrats to exploit and wave the bloody shirts of, and a new class crazy enough to VOTE Democrat, too.
…see, Democrats are all about wrecking other people’s lives for their own political power, and crazy folks are pretty helpless, so it was a natural for Democrats to cry crocodile tears so they could exploit them, cast them into the streets, then exploit them AGAIN so they could get more money for their failed cities, none of which EVER went to HELP them.
Then cry on TV as they projected the plight THEY caused on the Republicans, telling TV watching idiots that it was hard-hearted Reaganites that were making people suffer, so you needed to vote Democrat to save them, and yadda, yadda, yadda, lielielie…
…left with nowhere to send the truly nutty, no funds to benefit the hospital for these charity cases, bad political optics when you had to tie a biter down, and an increasingly liberal cadre of shrinks, the hospitals basically gave up too, and as I’ve said before, sometimes police-committed patients would be walking out of the hospital before I finished the Squad paperwork for transporting them.
…I could write a book on the travesty that was “community based mental health care”, and practically HAVE in the past here, but this is ALREADY too damn long.

Suffice to say that, were he ACTUALLY crazy, had his family recognized his need, and loved him enough to try to commit him…
…they would have failed completely.

…only a pack of very liberal college graduates who were too wussy to do the bloody parts of doctoring, so they set about poisoning our children into submission in our State-run schools and convincing them they need to get their penises cut off because, Science!, while all the while saying conservatives are crazy, turning killers out into the streets to kill again, and hoping we don’t notice that the shrinks themselves have a very high suicide rate because they’re crazier than their patients…

Because the progressive movement is 100% invested in increasing innocent human suffering, misery and death. Behind everything that the left advocates is their desire to increase innocent human suffering, misery and death.

So tell me, family of the deranged individual that tried to attack police with a knife, if you are so well versed in police training and procedures, what typical enforcement training were these officers lacking and what equipment would have resolved this situation to your satisfaction?
This should be asked of the family. Put them in the hot seat. Make them explain their ignorance of police policy and procedure.
…and yes, I know there is ‘private mental health care’ available, at a VERY high price, but that’s mostly a place for the limousine liberal to put his soyboy son to keep him out of jail while having his paid psychiatrist explain to him that it’s not his fault, its an understandable reaction to that Bad Orange Man (because the shrink knows which side his bread is buttered on), and maybe he’d feel better if he tried on a dress; or the liberal politician sends his wife there because she’s not Stepford enough when it comes out about his girlfriend, or she’s been into the Chardonnay too much because she has to live with HIM so she needs a place to dry out, that sort of thing.
These don’t count because they’re FAR too expensive for the common man, and mostly exist as liberal gaslighting centers anyway where they tell you it’s all someone ELSE’S fault so go vote Biden to make it better.
Worse than useless, they’re counterproductive, shielding high-ranking criminals from any consequences of their violent political acts even while encouraging them to more and worse acts, so this is no help EITHER, even if you CAN afford it.
The only REAL help is in the Lord.
There ARE faith-based groups that CAN help, many of which don’t charge, but they are very limited, very specific in scope….and you have to WANT help.
Because the Lord can’t help you unless you ASK him to.
…getting back to “community based health care” lies, one of the biggest tools they used to push this fraud was the chimera of “medically controlled” psychological problems. Yes, some kind of, sort of worked (often with horrendous side effects)…but ONLY if you TOOK them.
So they’d turn the insane loose with a bottle of pills, instructions on taking them that they couldn’t understand, and appointments to get more that they wouldn’t keep…then sent them out to go forth and sin no more.
…well, thing is…they’re crazy.
And the pills fixed NONE of the underlying problems.
So they’d lose them, run out of them, take them wrong, forget to take them…and then one of my favorites, as exemplified by THIS guy.
…we had a frequent flyer back in the day, a guy we’d have to haul down to General from time to time when he’d schitz out (yep, he was 3 other guys), break crap, and otherwise threaten others and himself (he was Jesus one time and God another, seems he was a bit confused about the Trinity among other things), so off to the races at a slow walk (undamaged nuts not currently acting out were ALWAYS Code 2 transport) we would go.
…well, a half-hour is a long time to sit in a chair next to a coocoo guy who doesn’t currently need any actual medical help, but you really DON’T want to leave him to his own defective thoughts all that time, so unless he’d go to sleep right away (and THAT could be bad too because he may have poisoned himself and not TOLD you because, crazy) then you’d try to engage in some light conversation about nothing too triggering.
Because we’d done this many times with this PARTICULAR guy and almost ALWAYS because he didn’t take his medicine, which some of his personalities were very honest about, and because I was currently talking to his birth personality which I knew was one of the calmer ones, I asked him WHY he didn’t take his medicine sometimes.
He said it was because he LIKED the way he felt when he was crazy.
Look at that again.
He’s responsible to take his OWN pills,
But he likes the crazy he gets when he doesn’t.
…and yet they still try this approach even unto this day, well, good luck with that…

Foolish foolish me! REALLY REALLY FOOLISH! When I first read the headline I thought here at last was a family that recognized reality and responsibility and logical consequences for violent criminal behavior. Then I heard the lawyer. They’re just setting up for a massive payout of public $. FTA!
