Federal agents will deploy to Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) — Federal agents sent to Chicago by President Donald Trump are expected to help with anti-violence efforts and not engage with protesters, Mayor Lori Lightfoot said Tuesday.

After responding with a pointed letter to the president Monday, Lightfoot softened her tone a bit, appearing cautiously ready to welcome the agents after getting clarification on their role.

Lightfoot said she got assurances from the federal government that agents would be focused on efforts to help the city with its pressing need to deal with gun violence, not with protesters.

The ABC7 I-Team has learned that President Trump will announce a new federal anti-crime initiative Wednesday afternoon. The initiative aimed at combatting violence in American cities, including expanding a federal law enforcement presence in Chicago.

  1. I couldn’t even listen to her whole announcemnet. I’m sickened by it. Foolish person that she is. We need to move on from those like her. Enough.

    God Bless us all!

  2. @ MJA: May I suggest adding stitches to the lips of her image and maybe darkening the eyes a little more? It would make her likeness far more accurate an image of a Zombie. Her administration does seem to have the effect of a Zombie curse…

  3. Thanks to some sharp witted blogger here a few months ago, that originally mention this in his/her comment.

I can no longer look at her without thinking Beetle Juice’s sister

  4. Will the peaceful protestors understand that the federales aren’t there to engage them? Come to think of it, they probably will, so that will embolden them to be even more “peaceful”.
