Feds Use Facial Recognition To Arrest Man Trying To Enter U.S. Illegally

Breaking 911: STERLING, Va., – On only the third day using its new cutting-edge facial comparison biometric system, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at Washington Dulles International Airport intercepted an imposter posing as a French Citizen.

On August 22, 2018, a 26-year-old man traveling from Sao Paulo, Brazil presented a French passport to the CBP officer conducting primary inspections. The officer utilized CBP’s new facial comparison biometric technology which confirmed the man was not a match to the passport he presented. The CBP officer referred the traveler to secondary for a comprehensive examination. In secondary, CBP officers noted the traveler’s behavior changed and he became visibly nervous. A search revealed the man’s authentic Republic of Congo identification card concealed in his shoe.

Using another person’s identity document is a serious violation of U.S. immigration laws that could result in criminal prosecution. CBP is withholding the man’s name until the investigation is completed.  more here

  1. This technology has been around since 2012 when Hitachi could read 36 million faces a second. I think it is over 70 million now. It’s like the Tom Cruise movie Minority Report combined with Will Smith’s Enemy of the State. My understanding is that there are already companies using Facebook and other online social media sites to create a digital catalog of bio-metric photos with which to identify people.

  2. I just want my future read by touching the lumps on my skull. The Powerball drawing is next Wednesday….I can add a lump or two on short notice, if necessary…

  3. I have no faith in facial recognition – it gets it wrong, hence the secondary check CBP did. Indiana BMV uses it and I work on their computers. I did a branch office setup once and to test the FR, they used the woman manager’s license, took my photo and they matched… and I’m a man. LOL

  4. Phuzzy – which brings up an interesting point, how does the facial recognition know what gender the person identifies with… I mean nothing is more important than that these days!

  5. This technology will be used to harass and control Americans while a few ‘show’ arrests will be made of illegals, once the IRS gets it, if you try to buy something and you owe some taxes, your purchase will be denied

Mine’s a star! No pictures of me on the internet, I’ve never used my real name either. But, when it comes to using false identification and entering this country for nefarious reasons, and I could become of of the victims, well use whatever means you have to stop them.

Lots of foreign workers are here using false identification. The guy who murdered Mollie is an illegal alien using false identification. His employer failed to do an E verification on him. Is there a better way?
