Until today.
Fired Director of Cyber Security Chris Krebs told the US Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday that some Dominion Voting Machines were connected to the internet.

…it’s tolerably difficult to connect to the Internet. Its not hard, but its also not automatic.
…so the only way these were connected to the internet is if someone connected them.

Which means that they can probably alter the cheat algorithm AFTER the fix is in.
You could also Program the machines to behave differently on voting day than on test mode or other days.
Anybody remember when Volkswagen programmed their Diesel cars to run more powerfully & efficiently during normal driving and to recognize when they were being tested for emissions where the cars would alter their emissions to pass??!!!
