Florida Dem Who Wants Her Student Loans Canceled Owns a $3 Million House

WFB: The Democratic Party’s pick to unseat Florida Sen. Rick Scott (R.) wants taxpayers to cancel her thousands of dollars of student debt. She and her husband own a $3 million house.

That’s nearly three times what former Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and her husband Robert Powell paid for their Pinecrest, Florida, abode in 2009. The couple dropped $1.15 million on the 4,600-square-foot home, which boasts six bedrooms and five bathrooms, according to Miami-Dade County deeds.

Now, Mucarsel-Powell wants help with her student loan debt, which totals anywhere from $15,001 to $50,000, according to her 2021 financial disclosure. In February 2019, Mucarsel-Powell complained that both she and her husband were still making loan payments.

“I’m still paying my student loans, so is my husband, my sister and close friends. We must tackle #StudentDebt & make education affordable,” she wrote on X. more here

Then you shouldn’t have borrowed the money, asshole. Pay back what you owe.

  2. Multimillion dollar home and we taxpayers are to pay off the student debt which is the equivalent of buying a car on today’s market.
Someone that stupid clearly belongs in the US Senate.
Meanwhile, Senator Scott, a multimillionaire, didn’t take his Governor or Senator salary.

  3. “Whaaa! I signed a legal document when i was a legal adult and now don’t want to honor it. Come on you peasant taxpayers!
I think I’ll go for car loan “forgiveness” next and then home loan.”

  4. I am still paying my student loans. Because I went to grad school, because it was worth it, and because I got the 25-year loan at 2%. I’m not complaining, I won’t allow it to be paid off for me, and I didn’t skip any payments because covid.
Nothing wrong with getting or having student loans – or business loans, both are investments in your career. There is something wrong with expecting someone else to be responsible for them.

  5. Thanks to Operation Wetback 65 yearss ago I “worked the fields” to save $ for college. Too young to legally work in town. 62 years ago a an undergrad I worked many glamorous jobs (dish washer, janitor…)for $1.00an Hr. to pay for school.

Graduated no debt. But I had to give up TV and movies. God gives us all 24 hrs a day. Kids who tried to work and watch TV + movies flunked out! I very wrongly cursed God for not making me rich like Bush. I realized I had been blessed by 1964.
Asked His forginess! I hope I am forgiven.
