For Unto Us a Child is Born!

Isaiah 9:6 KJV

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

  1. A Very Merry Christmas, and A Happy New Year to all.
This is the first year in 4 decades me and the Mrs. are having Christmas alone, both the kids are not joining us at the house. Lotsa phone calls and some presents, but we saw them a few weeks ago in FL for the youngest ones wedding, so they have used up all their vacation time.
Oh, we have the dog. Who has no idea it’s not just another Monday.

  2. Thank you Rich, but are too kind. I am a flawed and failed man and I literally don’t have a prayer without Him. Anything good you may see in me is Him within me, and not myself.

But is that not the reason for the season? In His word we are told “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”(Rom. 3:23). Man had no hope of redemption by his own hand, and so could never be worthy of Heaven.

But in His love for us, God found a way to cleanse the sins that separate we from Him that we may have Hope of Home.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16).

…so, in His wisdom and in His mercy, one night in a lowly manger in a nondescript town He visited the Miracle of the Incarnation of His Word unto us in the form of an 8nfant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and Infant destined by Him to teach and to lead and to suffer and die that we may at last be made worthy by the covering of His precious Blood, the origin of the freely given Gift of Salvation that is available to us not just on Christmas but every hour of every day, ours for the taking if only we believe on Him.

And THAT is what we celebrate today. The arrival of the only One that can make any man worthy of an eternal home with Him.

Even a man such as I.

Is that not a miracle worth celebrating?

“23 This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
    Psalm 118:23-24

I have many cares and am burdened for many people in my life, the weight made heavier by the fact I am too weak of my own strength to help them in any meaningful way. All of us are so burdened, the words may differ but the song remains the same.

But today I invite you set those cares aside for this day, to cast those cares on He who IS strong enough, to praise His name and thank God for His birth.

Dear Lord, we come before You today in prayer and thanksgiving for the Miracle You chose in Your Mercy to bestow on us. We thank You and praise You for the gift of Your Son, for the teaching He gives us, the Comfortor He left us, and for the promise of Salvation that we have only through Him. We celebrate His birth with joy in our hearts, with sadness for what He had to suffer for us, but with a song of praise to the Glory of God in our hearts that by His birth we may all one day truly go Home, to be with Him forever. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace in our hearts that no matter what evil may befall this world that the worst that can happen is we are sent to Heaven to sing His praises forever, all because of a little baby born on a starry night in Bethlehem long ago.

In the name of our Lord Jesus that we celebrate today we pray,

    Amen.

    God Bless,

    Merry Christmas!
