Ford CEO Jim Farley did not mince words while explaining some of the drawbacks of very large, fully electric SUVs and trucks.
During Ford’s fourth-quarter 2024 earnings call on Wednesday, the automaker shared its electrification roadmap, reiterating that it would focus on small and medium-sized EVs that are more economically viable instead of going all guns blazing with battery-electric models across all segments.
“For larger retail, electric utilities, the economics are unresolvable,” Farley said. “These customers have very demanding use cases for an electric vehicle. They tow, they go off-road, they take long road trips. These vehicles have worse aerodynamics and they’re very heavy, which means very large and expensive batteries.” more
No shit, Sherlock.
They had unsolvable problems the day Biden odored them to create and build them.
Gasoline weighs about 6lbs/gal
All of the delivery vans FedEx and Amazon are using here in NorCal are electric. Rivion is making Amazons, A start up called BrightDrop, owned by GM is making FedExs. I couldn’t tell you if they are economically viable, but the drivers love them.
Ford and GM should stick to internal combustion engines and make some money.
Aaaaaaaaaannd how many Billions did Farley Fukup waste on EVs???
It’s not just EVs either. Ford is the expert in ‘Unresolvable’ problems with recalls and major issues with destroyed engines and transmission or just piss-poor quality control. I mean how are you going to make a decent EV when you can’t make a reliable IC vehicles??
Fords still trying to fix their heavy duty diesel truck engines.
They have unresolved problems… the men who drive them walk funny.
Michael Moore comes to reality (AFTER THE DAMAGE IS DONE!).
He has a new free YouTube movie entitled, “Planet of the Humans”. Here’s the lINK (I’M, WATCHING IT NOW):

May God have mercy on this dumb Fuck’s soul. His only hope is that this apologetic movie will save his life…as,
The American people are FINALLY coming after the obvious uneducated, ignorant socialist retards such as himself.
Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE the waste these fools and the hate-America Marxist media have created!
I worked out how far I could tow my RV trailer using the F-150 lightning, and compared it to my 6.7l F-250 .
F-150 EV: Est… 75 miles a day. Requires 2 x 50 amp plugs at every campground. Time to get to west coast to visit family: 23 days each way. And there are sections on I-10 & I-40 where there are no suitable campgrounds for more than 75 miles.
F-250 diesel: 25 hours & 154 gallons of fuel.
23 campground stays would be $1700+, which is 3x the cost of fuel until I get to the Kali border… I need to get a 100 gallon pony tank.

We already have electric trucks… they are called trains.
Funny they’re putting a generator into the larger trucks to charge the batteries – claiming 700 miles on ‘one tank’, which is really starting with a full charge and a full tank and ending with no charge and no gas.
Reminds me of people towing a generator behind their EV… LOL
I do like the Edison Motors stuff up in Canada. Electric Semi truck with a genset. It actually appears to work, and they get to recover energy on the downhill runs and charge their battery from it. When they’re completely out of battery it just runs on the genset. So basically a Class 8 Prius.

Ive worked with indoor industrial BEVs for 30 years with every kind of battery at one time or another, and they are just barely cost effectively useful in an indoor controlled environment with dedicated on-site service personnel and people trained in their charging and use.
Outdoors, with very hot and very cold temperatures, indifferent maintenance, and random people destroying their own batteries with spates of opportunity charges and varient terrain and traction, all bets are off.
They were never not a stupid idea in the wild.
Thank goodness taxpayers were screwed to the tune of billions before they figured this out.
