DC: Famous actor George Lazenby, best known for portraying James Bond in the 1969 film, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” announced his retirement Thursday.
Lazenby posted a current photograph of himself and issued a statement explaining why he felt it was time to bow out of the spotlight after five decades.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision but it’s time to announce my retirement from work,” the famous actor wrote to Instagram.
He made it clear this was the absolute end of the road for his career. “Therefore, I won’t be doing any more acting or making public appearances, doing any more interviews or signing any more autographs as of today.” more
Is there some Jamaican-Indian woman pushing him out?
I saw On Her Majesty’s Secret Service in the movies when I was just a kid. Except for a scene of skiing on one ski I don’t remember much of it. Was gonna say it’s forgettable but… I just watched the trailer and it looks great. Plus, it’s got Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas! Gonna have to seek it out now.
The hands on the clock just keep going….
He’s still alive?
Ya’know… I do think there were some sloped roofs in Her Majesty’s Secret Service!
Kind of like jennifer aniston announcing something – jist to get attention.
I thought he retired from acting in 1970!
The Director of the Bond Movie told Him “You’ll never Act in a Movie again!!!”
and he was right…More of a Drive in theatre Film…Disjointed.
He did have a small part in “Gettysburg”. I hardly recognized him, though. So that was sometime in the 1990’s.
George Lazenby sounds like a good name for a piano player and lounge lizard singer in some fairly OK nightclub and bar back in the 1970’s.
Loved On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Was a fan of Dianna Rigg and she drove a “68 Cougar, which was my first car.
Telly Savalas said he conned his way into the audition as he had no experience.
My second favorite Bond movie. He did a great job, and the film had a touching ending.
Had no idea he was still alive.
Too bad he’s quitting.
With his current looks, he’d make a great “M” or “Q” in any new Bond movie.
Thank You, Mr. Lazenby
Sincerly,
The Midnight Movie Team
“Famous actor”. Who knew?
