Formerly Homeless Woman Wins $5 Million on Scratch-Off Lottery Ticket

RTM: A California woman, who was homeless just six years ago, got the surprise of a lifetime after winning $5 million on a scratch-off lottery ticket she bought at Walmart.

The California lottery announced the winner and the woman’s incredible story in a press release on Wednesday, identifying Lucia Forseth as the Scratchers winner.

Forseth picked up the ticket at a Walmart Supercenter in Contra Costa County and scratched it off outside the store while waiting for an oil change. She told the California Lottery that she only bought one ticket. more

  1. Federal and state taxes will take just north of half of that.

Having 2.5 mil is better than not having it, still, it is no guarantee of future security. The history of the California lottery is filled with stories of irresponsible winners ending up back in the gutter. Financial neophytes losing huge windfalls are as common as Big Mike and jock itch.

Hopefully, she will get a financial planner and turn off her phone, disconnecting all the parasitic relatives.

  2. I once told God that I’d do good if I ever won the lottery. I even told him to test me and see if I’m telling the truth.

Turns out, you have to play the lottery to win it! Bwaaaahahaha

I think you’re too generous. More likely two and in the ground. No self control. No discipline. No plan of action for her future.

If not that, it’ll be confiscated and re-distributed for reparations.

One thing I’ve learned from the rich people I work for. They know how to make money work for them. It ain’t all just spending like a lot of lotto winners think it is.

  4. I wish her the best and health and happiness. Odds are against her. A prayer for another’s good fortune and that they make the best of a lucky break never hurt anyone.

  5. Hobos and former hobos have money for lottery tickets?
Yeah, I’d call that a wise investment.

I know a guy who’s been out of work for 7 years but always has beer and cigarettes – probably lottery tickets, too.

Yes, on my neighborhood walks, right after alcohol beverage containers, cigarette butts, and marijuana packaging, comes lottery tickets.

  7. The article doesn’t say how she became homeless 6 years ago, but if she really does just buy a home and invest the rest, maybe she’ll be okay. I also hope her degree is in something practical and that she has her husband-to-be sign a pre-nup. 😬

  8. Sadly, most lottery winners are targeted by family and other parasites who hurt them badly.

It would be fitting if that lying hag who accused Trump of rape and was just awarded a $5 million award as if she won a lottery (merely for being a shameless liar) is a victim of such predators.
