Freedom: A Birthright, But Not a Guarantee

Dr.Hurd.com: Back when the Patriot Act was passed, people like us tried to warn you: If the federal government can do whatever it wants to you in the name of “fighting terrorism”, then the federal government can do whatever it wants to you in the name of anything else.

When COVID fascism broke out, people like us tried to warn you: “This will go on forever.” Now, into year three, we’re trying to warn you again: “If the government can do whatever it wants in the name of fighting a virus (even an overwhelmingly nonlethal one), then the federal government will literally get away with anything.”

Election fraud, forced vaccinations with experimental drugs and no liability whatsoever for the companies making millions off it, brazen deceit, deliberately induced inflation, elimination of our country’s borders and destruction of the energy supply … are you convinced YET?

With Canadians unable to support political opposition or dissension without having their bank accounts frozen and their dogs seized and murdered, we’re also trying to warn you: “If it can happen up there, it can certainly happen here.”

  1. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Showers of mercy and grace, there is freedom was a worship song that my church regularly sang on Sunday mornings about 20 years or so ago. The only true freedom comes from God and not from man. God’s freedom is eternal and everlasting while man’s freedom is arbitrary and capricious and only temporary lasting. I desire the freedom of God that has blessed this nation since its miraculous founding, I don’t want what man tends to call freedom which is more like license to do whatever the hell we want and not expect that there will be any negative consequences which can be taken away at any time by a tyrannical government. God help us, man sure as hell won’t! My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, from every mountain top let freedom ring. We used to sing that song all the time even when I was a kid back in the 60’s and now we’ve forgotten the blessings of freedom and traded our freedom for a mess of porridge (actually some type of lentil stew) like Esau did when he sold his birthright to his younger brother Jacob. And I’m afraid that we’ve sold or given away our God given freedoms away just so that we can be taken care of by the government. I for one don’t want to see my almost 70 years of freedom squandered for my sake, my children and grandchildren’s sake and for all those who have gone before us who have lived in the most blessed nation on Earth because we used to believe and trust in God and now our God given freedom are almost gone because we have forgotten that Almighty God is our only true source of freedom.

  2. This started with three phrases:
    “Compelling government interest”
    “National interest”
    “National security”
None of those phrases can be rigorously defined. None of them means anything objective. All three are cudgels with which government has beaten down individuals and private associations, and forced us to surrender our rights. Without the elimination of those three phrases and a return to the conviction that individual freedom is an absolute, not to be violated under any pretext, we will soon be reduced to a bondage firmer and less escapable than any known to our predecessors.

  3. “Yes! To this thought I hold with firm persistence;
The last result of wisdom stamps it true:
He only earns his freedom and existence,
    Who daily conquers them anew.”
(Goethe, “Faust” Act V, Scene VI)

Apparently something that’s been know for centuries but suppressed – or lost because of ignorance and apathy.

…the passage to which Geoff refers…

“29 And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.”
    Genesis 25:29-34

…so it ever is with men. We are ever prepared to sell the future for the present.

“Mercy is a chimera. It can be defeated by the stomach rumbling its hunger, by the throat crying it thirst.”
    -Frank Herbert, “Dune”

    They will feed you-enough.
    They will clothe you-enough.
    They will house you-enough.

All you have to do is sell them your birthright, your freedom…

    Your soul.

I don’t require the permission of anybody, living or dead, to make my own decisions. A little guidance from persons that may be living or dead I find useful at times. Those that don’t learn from history probably don’t learn from life either. Those people are called progressives and rewarding stupidity does nothing but enable them.
