David Herring, brother of Sen. Elizabeth Warren, said he is “furious” to learn the Massachusetts Democrat called their father a janitor on the campaign trail.
“According to a family friend, David has disagreed with the way Warren calls herself the daughter of a janitor as she describes the work he found after losing a job as a salesman after his heart attack,” the Boston Globe reports.
Speaking with a family friend, Herring was adamant that his father was a maintenance worker, not a janitor. “My Dad was never a janitor,” he told the Globe. read more
She should have said mailman. More nobler and more socially acceptable. Just ask Kasich.
I saw their dad standing outside a cigar store one time.
Not very talkative tho.
Objecting to “janitor” because their father was a “maintenance worker” is a distinction without much of a difference. There’s much to dislike about Lyin’ Liz but this is a gnat fart.
What’s the difference between a “maintenance worker” and a “janitor”?
Was he a janitor in the private school her son didn’t attend?
Mommy Dearest, Lizzy, has daddy issues.
I’m just like the Little People….Just not those Little People.
So what’s so bad about being a Janitor?
Any work done to support yourself and your family should be considered noble and the worker deserves respect for doing it.
Janitorial work is honorable work. A real man does whatever he can to feed his family and support his household. As Nixon once proclaimed ” I am not a janitor”.
Dad picked up shit, daughter spreads it.
Kind of a cancellation policy, it seems.
Good grief people. Maintenance people REPAIR things. Janitors CLEAN things.
My dad was a “maintenance worker” for a large school district. He did not sweep floors, wax floors, buff floors, clean-up kids puke, do windows, etc. What he did was; plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work. And, there is nothing wrong with sweeping floors, waxing floors, buffing floors, cleaning-up kids puke, doing windows, etc, those were not in his job description. I miss him and I learned a lot from him!
I was a plumber.
When the janitorial staff found a giant unflushable turd in the bowl, they called us!
So, we were subservient to the janitor?
I guess once you get to college you become enthralled by class/caste, but when you’re trying to keep the toilets shit-free you work together.

izlamo delenda est …
Good grief, @AC 11:36 AM, janitors have multiple duties including cleaning. With multiple people on staff, the janitor manages the cleaning person/crew.
Maintenance people (I was one once) pull preventive maintenance more often than outright repairs, and PM most definitely includes cleaning. Lots of it, in fact.
If you’re really into picky, it’s REPAIR people who repair things.
Just read the Wall Street Journal’s review of Elizabeth Warren’s policies. That woman, and this is not hyperbole, would destroy this country as we know it. Destruction of the wealthy. Destruction of the healthcare system. Revamp of the educational system. Destruction of second amendment protections. As Uncle Al said, there’s a lot of reasons to dislike Elizabeth Warren. Just read her policies and you’ll find quite a bit.
Sincerely,
A maintenance worker is not the same job as a janitor.
It is more involved than basic janitorial and usually involves smaller & simpler repairs as well as calling in specific trades when needed and coordinating between them and administration etc.
The point is Warren is now trying to claim she came from the lower working class now that the North American Indian thing has been dispelled.
Tim: Having been a plumber, can you go see if you can flush her!
I used to work as a janitor as a teen, mostly cleaning and waxing floors. I called myself a Floor Maintenance Mechanic.
