Georgia Democrat Becomes First To Endorse Trump, Credits His Work For Black Community

Daily Caller: A Democratic Georgia state representative officially endorsed President Donald Trump, making him the first state-elected Democrat in Georgia to do so.

Bucking his party, state Rep. Vernon Jones on Tuesday endorsed Trump for the 2020 presidential election, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The Democratic lawmaker not only cited Trump’s efforts to grow the U.S. economy, but also his work to help the African-American community.

“It’s very simple to me. President Trump’s handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign,” Jones said Tuesday.

He added: “There are a lot of African-Americans who clearly see and appreciate he’s doing something that’s never been done before. When you look at the unemployment rates among black Americans before the pandemic, they were at historic lows. That’s just a fact.” keep reading

  1. Some Democrat she-demon is already on the case. Calling him a disgrace, etc. lol
He’s not planning to switch parties but maybe she-demon will make him think about it.
He sounds like he’s been a conservativish dem.

  2. Trump really has done more for Blacks than anyone has since Kennedy (you could argue Johnson but he could be said to have only been doing the civil rights stuff to use them for votes to benefit his party).

  3. Vernon Jones is a Georgia State Rep for the 91st District which takes in a piece of DeKalb county (deeply Democrat) and part of a neighboring county (Rock-something). It’s hard to understand the particulars, but it appears Jones’ support of Trump may be a Hail Mary for his own reelection bid in May. This article references an ethics complaint brought against him for not living in the boundaries of his district. He says it’s a baseless suit. Looks like there’s more to the story. Georgia’s 91st looks more Democrat-voting than Atlanta. They don’t have a Republican on the May ballot and Jones ran unopposed in his last state election. There’s another D running against him this year.

  4. Between the Democrat MI State Rep crediting Trump with saving her life via recommendation of the malaria drug and now Vernon, I smell a high lynching in the air…..DNC providing the nooses.

  5. His constituents seem to be highly functional plantation dwellers who for decades have followed a tradition of being Demwitocrats. Probably a mix of white collar and blue collar hard working residents live in his district, typically morally conservative and voting as liberals.

Therefore, at this point he wouldn’t stand a chance of reelection if he became a Republican. If Jones ran for the Senate, he’d have more political success as a Republican.

Who knows, some of his constituents may eventually get a clue and become brave enough to become Republicans despite being ostracized. You can bet your bottom dollar some of Jones’ constituents will be “closet” Republican when voting this November to reelect President Trump.

Mr. Jones, is a rare intelligent, well educated, politically astute Democrat politician, and being quite handsome doesn’t hurt. His constituents are fortunate to have him.
