Newsmachete: Georgia’s REPUBLICAN governor vetoed a bill which would allow students on college campuses to defend themselves if someone tried to commit a mass murder
Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal vetoed controversial “campus carry” legislation on Tuesday that would have allowed college students to carry concealed guns onto campuses with some restrictions.
Conservatives and Second Amendment activists cast House Bill 859 as a crucial measure for members of the school community to protect themselves. Opponents, including the University System of Georgia chancellor and presidents of the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, said the measure would make it harder for campus police to protect the community.
Harder to protect the community? The campus police are usually unarmed. ย MORE
The GOP’s charade, pretending not to be democrats has fallen completely apart.
Maybe from it’s ashes we’ll finally get a second party.
So, Gov Deal. You mean the students at Georgia universities are more prone to violence than students at Colorado (15 years and counting) or Utah (14 years and counting.)
Or are you more of a chickenshit than the governors of Kansas, Arkansas, Idaho, Mississippi, Oregon, or Wisconsin? You can take solace in the fact you’ve got more balls (but less brains) than the governor who refused to sign Tennessee’s weak-tea campus carry legislation, allowing it to become law..
Any chance the Legislature will show some spine and override the veto?
Man, that was a “hold-my-nose-and-press-the-button” vote in 2014.
Only because he was running against Jimmah Carter’s grandson.
When Deal was elected I had some hope that he might be slightly better than the spineless, lying sack of pig excrement he replaced (Sonny Perdue). Apparently, we just elected a new sack to hold the same ol’ excrement.
At least one state legislator called Deal out on this vote saying that Trump is a result of scumbag politicians like him.

And Crazy8r – the state house speaker hasn’t said anything about trying to override Deal’s veto even though some of the reps have been pushing him to put it to a vote. I suspect it’s just more of the same “wrestling entertainment” that we’re so used to seeing from these jerks at this point.
Well I hope nothing happens, but if it does I hope he’s the first one to get his fat ass sued off for denying a citizen the right to protect himself!
Deal sucks! Armed robberies in the Georgia State Library, and he vetoes a bill that allows 21 and over students holding a state issued carry permit to carry on campus. Liberals and Rhinos make the community harder to protect.
He has been bought.
Otherwise he would order everyone working for or around him disarmed at all times.
Nathan has not been a good Deal. He has been a spineless pos as our gubner.
