  1. …yep, that’s a tradition among politicians in general, and Black ones in particular, to consider the municipal services to be torpedoes for their own private wants needs and desires.

One of my favorites is then-Cincinnati City Councilwoman Alicia Reece, accused of using strong-arm tactics to settle a lawsuit avantageous to her political aspirations, threatened to use Cincinnaiti firefighters to intimidate a (Black) reporter into retracting a story she didn’t like.

“The alleged use of a third party to send messages to Leisure is similar to statements Alicia Reece made April 17, according to CityBeat Editor John Fox. During a visit complaining about the newspaper’s coverage of her, Reece told Fox to make CityBeat writer Kathy Y. Wilson stop criticizing her. Otherwise, Reece told Fox, she would send Cincinnati firefighters to convince Wilson.

Reece told Fox she had engaged the help of firefighters to successfully get at least one other person to stop publicly criticizing her.”

…I had to dig for that story because, well…

“Comparing his family to white political dynasties in Cincinnati, Reece says attacks on him and his daughter are racially motivated.

“I definitely think the family thing is racial and jealousy,” Steve Reece says. “It’s never put in the context of the total relationships going on. The comparison relationship is always isolated. I’m never put in the category of Tafts, Lukens, DeWines, Peppers. Somehow it’s a bad thing when a black father steps up.”

…yeahhh, there’s that, but also another thing.

A story like THIS would cripple a political career, would it not?

    NOPE.

…she’s now President of the Hamilton County Commisioners, a body of three Democrats who rule over one of the largest populations in Ohio in a formerly Republican stronghold.

“The Honorable Alicia Reece, your new Hamilton County Commissioner, made history as the first woman and African American to win city, state, and county races in Hamilton County.”

…nup, no race card THERE, nu-uh!

…the other shenanigans went on in 2002, 21 years ago, and it slowed her trajectory not at all. It’s “Black” this and “Black” that and pretty soon they make it so I have to leave the County I grew up in and served in because they lysed the project dwellers throughout it (NEVER buy a house on a bus line) and did all the other things that Democrats do until the County became a shithole on a level with the City.

…point being that this is hardly a new thing with politicos. NYC, Chicago, all the other garden spots are replete with stories of all sorts of City services being manipulated to serve the whims of a powerful politican.

But at least with a mayor or a County Commisioner its possible to move away from it.

…where are we supposed to move to when a fraudulent “president” does the same thing with the CIA, FBI, NSA, IRS, DOJ, FEC, SEC, FDA, and the military?

    Hypothetically speaking, of course…
