Germany Ready To Turn Off Lights, Warm Water, Reduce Heat, As They Get Ready for an Energy Crisis

Conservative Review: Some of Germany’s biggest cities are preparing for an energy crunch this winter by shutting off warm water, limiting heat, and switching off lighting.

The German city of Hanover is attempting to reduce its energy consumption by 15%.

Between Oct. 1 and March 31, Hanover’s municipal buildings will not be allowed to be heated to a temperature over 68F. The city has banned the use of mobile air conditioning units and fan heaters.

The citizens of Hanover will be forced to take cold showers at city-run facilities. The German city will cut off hot water in public buildings, swimming pools, and gyms.

“The situation is unpredictable. Every kilowatt hour counts, and protecting critical infrastructure has to be a priority,” said Hanover Mayor Belit Onay – who is part of the Green party. “We are facing hard times due to the Russian aggression on Ukraine. And as we see that there’s a looming gas shortage, this is a major challenge for municipalities.” more here

  1. Hard to believe this same nation started two world wars and thought they were the master race. Now they are broken by Green Orthodoxy and for giving Trump (and the US) the middle fnger

  2. I’d love to see the same German diplomats that laughed at Trump when he said they would be dependent on Russia energy and have them in a room and ask them “Who’s laughing now”?

  3. That’s funny. When I got stationed in Germany in an army band in January 1969, there was no hot water in the shower either. Beer and wine were cheap though.

  4. …ironically, they used to sing about how they would get cold and hot and be in the dark and keep smiling and doing their job no matter what the LAST time they got into a tussle with Germany, but at least they were dressed more manly and sang it while driving their tanks then…

    (Translation below)

    “Ob’s stürmt oder schneit,
    Ob die Sonne uns lacht,
    Der Tag glühend heiß
    Oder eiskalt die Nacht.
    Bestaubt sind die Gesichter,
    Doch froh ist unser Sinn,
    Ist unser Sinn;
    Es braust unser Panzer
    Im Sturmwind dahin.”

    Translated;

    “In blizzard or storm,
    Or in sun warm and bright,
    The day hot as hell
    Or bone-chilling be the night,
    Our faces may with dust be laid,
    But spirits never fade,
    No, never fade;
    Relentless, our tank
    Thunders out on a raid.”

    They will try the same here if they manage to nationalize the power grid.

  6. My local power company has tried several times to put a device on my air-conditioner, so they can shut it down during peak usage hours.
    We have a Cargil ethanol plant nearby, maybe they need to shut down during peak hours.
    Or maybe they should be using some of that super fuel they pawn off on us, to power their plant.
    It doesn’t even create enough energy to produce itself. Just a never ending sinkhole.

  7. I heat with propane.
    I have been on a 10 month pay system for years and it has fluctuated depending upon the price at this time of year.
    Last year, beginning in September my bill was #320 per month and I ended the with a small surplus.
    I just received my contract for this coming year and the rate has gone up to $540 per month.
