Going Coal Turkey – IOTW Report

Going Coal Turkey

General Motors CEO virtue signaling how “clean” the new Chevy Volt is. Then a reporter asks where the charging electricity comes from. Oh my…. Wait for it. Awkward.

  1. Dumb liberals are killing the country. Killing it. I think they believe the electricity fairy comes and sprinkles green electricity. They also don’t care how much child labor goes into mining what’s needed for the batteries.

“I think I’ll invest in a couple dozen or so pairs of comfortable walking shoes.”

…except you need petroleum products to make walking shoes, plus coal-fired electricty to run the shoe making machines.

    …you mean like this?

    https://wattsupwiththat.com/2022/06/08/is-it-ethical-to-purchase-an-ev-lithium-battery-powered-vehicle/

    Excerpt:

“It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just one battery.

The current fossil fuel infrastructure is less invasive than mining for the exotic minerals and metals required to create the batteries needed to store “green energy”. In developing countries, these mining operations exploit child labor, and are responsible for the most egregious human rights’ violations of vulnerable minority populations. These operations are also directly destroying the planet through environmental degradation. The 2022 Pulitzer Prize nominated book “Clean Energy Exploitations – Helping Citizens Understand the Environmental and Humanity Abuses That Support Clean Energy, does an excellent job of discussing the lack of transparency to the world of the green movement’s impact upon humanity.”

  4. There is a commercial here in Nebraska about how important the production of corn is for California ethanol.
Ethanol is sheit fuel, the only truth is renewable, the rest is a crock.
It is about big agribusiness. A small farmer commented he paid $1300 to fertilize 6 acres. With higher corn prices, they pay more for everything else, fuel, seed, & fertilizer.
If ethanol was a good fuel, why not use it to generate electricity?
Even at $5 gallon, ethanol can’t make money without subsidies.

If they could just stop the farce of ethanol, our gas mileage would go up more than the 10% they are wasting on the whole thing, PLUS they could devote the farming effort to actual food production. Win-win
