A group of tourists capsized a gondola in Venice after they were warned against taking selfies and standing in the boat.
The gondola was passing under a bridge near St. Mark’s Square when it flipped over, dumping its occupants into the frigid water, video posted to TikTok shows.
The gondolier had been attempting a tricky maneuver to get under the bridge while the tourists from China continued to shift around the boat while taking pictures of themselves and the city’s famed sights, the Guardian reported.
The gondolier had told the five passengers to sit still until they were under the bridge so as not to disrupt the boat’s center of gravity.
Despite the warning, the passengers continued to stand and take more pictures, causing the boat to tip over. more here

@SNS — I imagine the gondolier knew a few traditional Italian hand gestures that would have attracted his passengers’ attention.
Here”s a novel idea…limit the nuber of passengers to three… two if they’re Chynese!!

If those tourists happened to get a mouthful of Venice canal water and swallowed, it’s probably curtains for them. I suspect the Venice canals have been a repository for all kinds of garbage, dead bodies of humans and animals, excrement, spit, snot, and God knows what else. For at least 1,000 years
If those people did swallow any of it, I’d say it’s “Hasta La Vista, Baby”. That’s Chinese, I believe.

So now the Chinese have officially taken over the title of “G-damned obnoxious tourists” from the Americans.
It’s the same thing here too. Ignore the fences and signs at National Parks and get a 1000 ft free fall. But a great selfie. And the Asians are the best at it.

No, they just joined in. Not that this has anything to do with tourists, but I just returned home from the gym. A cold rainy evening so a light crowd. Twelve of us. Two of us old timers and the rest belong to the cell phone addicted crowd. At one point all ten were doing nothing but texting while sitting on a piece of equipment. Gets me fired up.
