GOP health care bill dies in Senate after more Republicans announce opposition

Trump, McConnell both hint at new strategy of repealing Obamacare without an immediate replacement.

Two Senate Republicans late Monday said they oppose the Republican health care bill, effectively stopping in its tracks the push to replace Obamacare and pushing GOP strategy toward an outright repeal without a replacement.

Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Jerry Moran of Kansas simultaneously announced their opposition, meaning four Republicans have declared that they will vote against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s bill, forcing both President Trump and Mr. McConnell toward “Plan B.”

  1. Yes! Repeal! Fuck the stupid replacement, now.

Start at square one and create something good: catastrophic insurance and a lot of HSA control. Consumer choice.
    ….Lady in Red

  2. Brad,

Mike Lee isn’t trying to fuck you and me with RINOcare like McConnell wants.

I’m glad this bill is gonna fail, because it’s still ObamaCare failing…..which has nothing to do with Trump.

Don’t fall into this Republican ‘group-think’ that they have a bill that’s better than Obamacare was. It’s just as shitty, and it’s just as non-free market.

If the insurance agents and insurance companies like it, it’s fucked. It still allows the bureaucracy to insinuate itself into YOUR life.

Mike Lee and Rand Paul don’t like it because it isn’t conservative enough. The stuttering moron from Maine, Susan Collins, doesn’t like it because it isn’t progressive enough. Murkowski is the same way as Collins.

Congress has NO FUCKING BUSINESS being involved in this stuff.

  3. The Republicans and Democrats aren’t interested in leaving US alone. To believe so is utter idiocy.

They are in this for control and power over OUR lives.

That’s all that this is about.

  4. TSUNAMI

Mike Lee and Rand Paul play a self serving political game and it’s getting real old. Flash back to Rand Paul a couple months ago, “They’re hiding the bill from me, sniff” Mean while any asshole could read it on line. Where I come from that’s fucking weak shit. I’ll guarantee you both these worthless fuckers have the ability for input on this Bill. Ted Cruz did. There’s no satisfying these assholes, meanwhile Rome burns. Hang them.

  5. Good job Repubs. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Repubs were given the majority for a few simple things – repeal government involvement in medical insurance, build a wall to secure our borders, and govern according to the Constitution. Nope too difficult – just had to aim to be a minority party one more time. . . assholes!

  6. Them bill was a real crock, it required obamacare to be enforced as written. And juggled around the category of policies. It looked like an eighth grader worked for at least an hour. “Ted” Cruz should be ashamed enough to go back to Canada.

  7. ⚡️ HUZZAH!⚡️

So, Obamacare is going to DIE UNDER ITS OWN WEIGHT w/o Republican help?

Politically, that’s fantastic. Democrats did nothing to improve it, and they watched it die.

Morally, all politicians should have kept working together and improving this flawed bill. It’s only what we are paying them to do after all.

  8. Brad,

When did I say it would be a walk in the park? I only imply that it might be necessary to have a better outcome on the other side should we make it across.

Would you rather put your faith in government? Talk about a fatalistic approach.

Put your faith into something that really matters. This country was founded on tactics that were considered ‘bad’ by someone for sure. It worked pretty good until we put our faith into government and rejected God.

Sometimes Brad, you just have to be ‘that’ asshole like myself and let the chips fall where they may.

These government types have us ALL chasing our tails. Meanwhile, the insurance companies, bureaucrats, and congressional ‘leaders’ line their pockets while we turn our pockets inside-out.

  9. Per the Conservative Treehouse…

“I just noticed McConnell’s trickery, the 2015 bill was a defunding bill, not a repeal. McConnell is just tricking people into thinking this was going in the direction of a repeal. It’s not.”

“The GOP have never, ever, voted for a repeal. That would take 60 votes. They voted in 2015 to defund it using the 51 vote threshold of ‘reconciliation’. They’ve never once had a repeal vote on Obamacare.”

“Therefore, if this actually goes to a vote, this appears to be constructed simply as an exercise to prove a vote was taken. ObamaCare remains and the implosion continues. McConnell’s political calculation here is trickery. Nothing more. O-Care remains.”

  10. Time to primary McConnell, Ryan and all RINOS/NeverTrumpers!

Surely there are many who can do the job better and more efficiently w/o insidiously wanting to line their own pockets!?!

REPEAL ACA…so it is said, so shall it be written!!!

  11. You can primary till you’re blue in the face. The problem is the leadership. They control the tenor, remove them and you remove the threats and pressure from the rest. McConnell and Ryan are playing a game, they’re are snakes that only answer to the COC.

  12. GOOD LET IT BURN! NO REPLACEMENT! DEMS OWN IT!
Government fixing a problem government created??? Sure Brad it’s Mike Lee’s fault. WTF. Brad stand with Mitch McConnell I’ll take Mike Lee!

  13. Worthless RINO stewbums that were unable to craft a better bill than obama and his den of thieves during the 7 years obamacare laid waste to our healthcare system are equally culpable.
McConnell, I’m looking right at you, bitch.

  14. If the Repubs don’t repeal it now, they’ll lose big time next year as the Dems hang the failure of O-Care around their necks, Lotsa TV and internet ads about the Repubs failure to fix such an important subsidy, etc.
They’ll hose themselves before this is over.

  15. As I have always said, let ObamaCare fail and then come together and do a great healthcare plan. Stay tuned! Donald Trump.
    Mike Lee’s fault BRAD?

  16. JTucker

Stand with who ever the fuck you want, but mean time don’t tell me who to stand with. Vote all the assholes out. A vote for a straight repeal will have a 2 year sunset clause. That’s two years for these assholes to so the same shit they’ve been doing. Pointing fingers and accomplishing nothing. And at the end of the day they won’t completely get rid of Obamacare because they don’t won’t to. So when it does finally collapse what happens? The Government takes it over completely. Single payer. Watch it happen. Your getting played.

  17. The best repeal is to let it burn on its own!
anyone getting tax payer handouts doesn’t feel the pain of this shit plan. Government fixing a government problem they caused! that’s just so smart. If we don’t let it burn we will keep putting band aids on wound
that cant be fixed. American people will only react when they feel pain.
20 trillion in debt no one feels the pain yet!
