Gorsuch: Too Many New Laws Could Impair Americans’ Freedoms

Breitbart

Supreme Court Associate Justice Neil Gorsuch said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that the United States has too many federal laws.

Host Shannon Bream said, “I think it will be eye opening to the American people, the idea that so pretty much of our conduct is over regulated and over criminalized many cases. Apparently you and are committing felonies every day without possibly even knowing it.” more

  1. Not to mention all the agency’ ‘regulations’ and ‘policies’ (that the bureaucrats THINK are laws) that dwarf the Congressional statutory law in comparison (which requires about a ton of paper to print!).

    (Sorry for that not-quite-a-sentence!)

D’uh. Ya think? Fixed it for ya.

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them to be broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against… We’re after power and we mean it… There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Reardon, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

  3. I’ve complained about that for years! They have what I call Wrap-Around Laws where a new law is either redundant or negates an existing one!
I guess when they’re in the business of manufacturing laws, they’re gonna give you a lot of models for you to drive off the lot in!
Not only that, but a lot of them are so someone can pat themselves on the back with (vanity laws) so they scour the library trying to find a crevasse to shoe-horn another one into whether it’s needed or not.

  4. Government is no better than a homeowner association headed by anal, scheming, arrogant and power hungry people who think the know what’s best for everyone else. The only difference is that government allows members / officials to steal money, take bribes and enrich themselves through corrupt means.

    NO SHIT, SHERLOCK!

That’s been true since Shay’s Rebellion in 1786-7 and the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion. It has steadily gotten worse for over 230 years. GET WITH THE FREAKIN’ PROGRAM!

  6. Gorsuch had a blinding epiphany—which had been obvious to most thinking people for decades—right when the other two branches are ganging up on him and his Supremes. Whatever it takes, I reckon. But like many others have said above, it’s the “rules”, “guidance” and “”mandates, all without oversight by legislators or review by judges, which are killing and jailing us as much as the laws. Supreme Court ruling against Executive Agencies are as rare as hen’s teeth. In fact, I don’t know if SCOTUS would even dare to cross the bureaucrat leviathan if it meant a pillow in the face one night.

I really don’t know. But I’m pretty sure that Gorsuch will be backtracking soon.

    “Laws” haven’t touched

Save any 2x4s around your house over about 4′ long in case you must adjudicate God’s laws.
