CTH:
All the right moves….. We can expect the national media to go bananas as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a bold step in advancement of federalism with authorization and funding for the formation of a state militia known as the Florida State Guard [Announcement Here].
During an event today in Pensacola Florida, the governor announced the creation of three new state-centric armories to support the new state guard units. One in the former airbase at Homestead, one in Gainesville and one in Malabar. As noted in the release, “The establishment of the Florida State Guard will further support those emergency response efforts in the event of a hurricane, natural disasters and other state emergencies. The $3.5 million to establish the Florida State Guard will enable civilians to be trained in the best emergency response techniques.” more
I approve.
“REPEAL THE TENTH AMENDMENT!”
I’m now of the opinion Ron DeSantis needs to be our President in 2024, and Trump needs to stay in the shadows as king maker.
All of the conservative states need to establish their own militias and shut down their national guard units to prevent the federal government from mobilizing the guard against them.
seems to me that this might’ve already been done …. ’bout 160 years ago …. hmmmm
good luck to DeSantis & FLA … this is going to be veeeeeeeery interesting
p.s. the Feds are probably going to do the same thing Lincoln did & proclaim Ft. Sumpter … I mean Holmstead & the other properties to be Fed property … hope they fight it out in court, instead of the original ‘solution’
ΜΟΛΩΝ, half the states have these already, including California.
Many states have them but they are inactive.
This is a not too subtle poke in the eye of the over-reaching feds. I believe FL has the highest percentage of military retirees. Many of them would just love to be part of a State Guard. Oh, I know I would! Since the feds keep pushing, we need to push them back…harder.
DON’T TREAD ON FLORIDA!
Brad, I agree though it would suck to lose two years of RD as Florida gov.
I wonder if he could possible run again for Florida gov after 8 years as president?
I know term limits but not if he didn’t serve two full Florida terms.
Hmmmm…
Good, hope Texas has the balls to do that, but they probably don’t.
TheMule: Texas already had a State Guard, with about 2,000 members. And they do actually relief and humanitarian work.
thanks to LBS & Elam Blacktree I have been enlightened about the ‘State Guards’
if DeSantis does this right he can establish a true ‘State Guard’, under full control of the state, & get away from the ‘Nation Guard’ under control of the Feds
wishing all the best to more establishment of States rights … as the Founders intended
The United States are in a pre-separation divorce so it’s very important that the Red states establish & secure all the power they rightfully have.
He’s unafraid to lead, he’s a man of decisive action and he’s on the right track. More importantly, so far, he’s been a strict Constitutionalist. So, he has my support unless something big changes.
But I still want Trump as AG – wearing a cape, swinging a YUGE sword, and cutting heads off as he storms the smelly dungeons of the Washington SWAMP!
(Hey, at my age, a guy can still dream.)
Brad,
With all respect,
NO.
Leave him right where he is.
DeSantis needs to stay in FL for now.
Strengthen the state’s federalist position. There are RINOs representing FL in the House. They voted for the national vax database.
In 2024 he’ll be the candidate of the people.
