RedState: As Brandon Morse reported Monday, Goya Foods CEO Bob Unanue told the Michael Berry Show yesterday that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) joining in on the calls to boycott his company back in July backfired big time, so much so that she was named the company’s employee of the month at one point.
“When she boycotted us, our sales actually increased 1,000%,” Unanue stated. “She got employee of the month for bringing attention to Goya and our adobo.”
While a lot of us chuckled over his remarks, an embarrassed Ocasio-Cortez was most certainly not amused. She said as much in response to a tweet from a Media Matters propagandist who pretended to ask a “serious question” as to whether or not AOC had actually called for a boycott at the time: more

I’ve never purchased Goya in my life until this dumb bitch suggested a boycott. I make a killer chili about three times a month. As soon as she announced her boycott I started buying 2 cans of Chili Beans, 1 can of Black beans, 1 can of Red Beans from Goya. When I could find them on the shelves. It’s a quality stuff. I’ll continue to patronize them. Thanks AOC.
