We can celebrate Independence Day in a special way this year after the Supreme Court vindicated our rights and liberties under the Constitution. As a result, our nation is freer under law this Independence Day than it was last Independence Day!
So let us recall the wishes of Founding Father John Adams, who signed the Declaration, that this holiday “ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shews, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other from this time forward forever more.”
As the momentous Supreme Court decisions remind us, our liberty depends on fidelity to the principles of our founding, as enumerated in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. To that end, to celebrate Independence Day, here is the Declaration of Independence, in full:
In Congress, July 4, 1776.
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.
He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
He has endeavored to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.
He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries. more here

It is entertaining, well, and somewhat sad, to see people mourning the ‘authoritarian’ Supreme Court rulings giving greater recognition of our freedom. Prayers that this country will continue to head in the right direction, particularly with legitimate elections this November and with reduction of government interference in our lives.
We’re getting to damn close to celebrating the memory of Independence.

SCOTUS decisions are nice, but Democrats don’t care.

The lesson of Independence Day is that freedom isn’t free.
We’re going to have to pay for ours very soon.
If enough are left that actually want it.
The stream of erosion in pride and patriotism of our country and its inherent goodness has slowly but steadily turned into a frenetic river.
A large portion of our population celebrates Juneteenth as THEIR independence day. Our history and the difficulties of securing independence, an actual miracle really and the clearest example of “Divine Providence” when you study the odds of going up against the greatest power in the world at that time, all of this is not emphasized or cherished in the schools. And we have a large portion of folks whose particular disposition of their country is of shame and disdain, believing our ills far outweigh all the good we have done, that we are colonial, greedy, a destroyer of all natural resources, and bring misery to all those within our sphere of influence.
I will celebrate the 4th as I always do, with pride and affection, but with the clear understanding that the comity between myself and my government, who don’t represent my values, is busting at the seams.

Forty-eight years ago, today, on the 4th of July, 1974, I landed at RAF Mildenhall in England. I boarded a bus that took me and others to RAF Alconbury where I was to be stationed. I was only twenty and had never been overseas. Everything I saw was different and strange. England in the mid-70’s was very different from England today. I was dressed in my short sleeve khaki uniform and was cold because it was in the upper 40’s. I didn’t expect that. The thing that stood out to me was that it was just another day for the Blokes, which is what GI’s called all English people. It was on a Thursday and I didn’t see a single American flag anywhere during the whole thirty-five mile bus ride. I guess that made sense to me, but it really began to sink in that I wasn’t in America any longer. I began to feel very out of place. Were the Blokes going to spit on me and hate me for being an American? Did they still harbor resentment for the whole 4th of July thing? Was I safe? Well, when the bus arrived at the USAF base, RAF Alconbury, the first thing I saw was the large American flag waving proudly at the main gate. The American security police waved the bus through the gate and I began to see fellow Americans, some in uniform and most in civies. The whole base was celebrating the 4th of July with picnics and decorations and there were American flags everywhere. I felt at home, again. I thought how ironic it was that I was there to do my part to help protect the UK from the evil Ruskies. It was a scary time during the Cold War. You really got a sense of that being in Europe back then. Turns out, the English, for the most part, liked the American presence in their country. I was a young married man and lived 25 miles off base in the small village of Kings Cliffe. I made friends with many Blokes and remain friends with them, today. They seemed to like Americans well enough, but I found out quickly that they loved Texans. I have traveled back to England over the years to visit my Bloke friends and some of them have been here to visit me. Even in light of the filthy, scumbag Democrats being in power today, it’s good to be an American, especially on the 4th of July. “Happy Independence Day, everyone!”
