Chicago officer Ella French was killed during a traffic stop on Saturday.
FOX: Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot botched fallen officer Ella French’s name just days after Chicago police superintendent David Brown did the same.
“The horrible tragedy of Ella Frank’s murder,” Lightfoot said during the 2022 budget engagement forum held at Truman College on Thursday.
The flub was criticized by the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, which tweeted on Friday, that “This is one of those times when words really matter.” more here

I was hoping someone would put up a post about this woman. It is something visceral with me when I hear about a female cop that loses her life in a line of duty. It should not matter, a life is a life and all are equally valuable both to us and in God’s eyes. But on some level, on a primal level, for the average cop

I’m often wrong, this one has someone working the district to the south in my extended circle. The shit show that is Shitcago has been a troublesome / emotional for anyone knowing those waiting to be able to pull retirement. And questioning any short timers or those joining up at this point. They have no support in the higher ranks and politicians.
The lack of the bagpipes was not in my (not so humble) opinion anything personal with her. Just the brass not caring about the rant and file.

If Chicago is not willing to field a team of killers to turn these animals into dog food at the drop of a hat, I have no sympathy. You have police who know who they are, you know where they are. Not distracting from the thread when we’re discussing Ms. French. From my first post, it’s sad she unnecessarily died. However, the people that are responsible for Shitcago as you call it, are the people from Chicago. A perilously leftist place. Ms. French was a woman from Chicago. Hence, she was likely a lefty and thus bears some of the responsibility.
She was also a cop. Although an unpopular opinion around these parts, I am no cheerleader for the cops. True, there are some good ones. I reckon around 5% of them are the good ones. I have many compelling reasons for believing this. It does not mean I want them defunded as they serve a necessary purpose. The sheep need sheepdogs. However, the Chicago police are no sweethearts without sin. Ms. French was a cop. Chances are strong she was most likely in the 95% range.
As a cop, she was also likely part of the political machine. I’m not going out on a limb in suspecting Ms. French was part of the Chicago police union. Perhaps she didn’t always agree with the union she funded, yet the union endorsed Lori Lightfoot. At this point, we should not be surprised by anything Lightfoot does. Were she still alive, Ms. French should not be surprised she will be getting no bagpipes.
She was a cop that was likely a lefty, given where she was from and the fact that she was a woman. And she decided to remain being a cop despite the left making it very clear during the last year and a half what they think of the police, no matter what Psaki may say.
The above are logical, deductive sequiturs. I may be wrong. Or I may not be wrong. It’s sad she died, and sad that her newborn child is now motherless, yet that is all she will get from me. Thanks for discussing this without resorting to epithets, I appreciate it.

The guys (sorry don’t personally know any female cops on Chicago’s department) are to a man conservative (yeah only three). All looking for retirement with the longest having eight years left. Not enough of a number for any kind of survey on anything and again any from my circle would not be lefty and still be part of it. Left, right or in between I don’t see any of them looking for long term employment and those not retiring will be looking for suburban departments, particularly county.
Sadly, to your take, I’m familiar with screw-ups from suburban departments hiring on in the city which will perhaps validate your perception and if not now will eventually make for a worse department (if that’s possible). Getting hired by the city when county and other wouldn’t touch them after being let go by other departments. Shitcago is starting to overlook things as they have too many open positions.

Mayor Lizardface continues to disregard, disrespect and dishonor the Chicago Police Dept. Even if those officers are majority Demwit, they aren’t going to keep supporting a mayor who cares nothing about them. Lizardface better watch her back.
