Johnny Winter has been one of my all time favorites since my brother brought home the Johnny Winter “Captured Live” record in about 1975/6.

Have. not see the name Epiphone for years.

White Winter Guilt with a heapin helpin of blue(s)!
Every fingernail a potential guitar pick. The “youngster” guitarist looking over Johnny’s shoulder picked up many good licks and very likely has an avid following of younger guitarists.
RIP Johnny.
Both of his are were emaciated, not typical for a guitar player. Could be from drug use?
Must be all that “WHITE PRIVILEGE” kept him going all these years! Not to mention the great Blues!

He was, “Still Alive and Well”. I liked the heck out of him.
Highway 61 Revisited.
Thanks, MJA!

I drove the far northern section of hiway 61 from the Ontario border to Duluth Mn, with tithe Dylan version playing in the background for several years. Those were good times, free, no COVID BS, call your own shots, living the good life. Oh how I miss those days. I hope we can bring them back.

Extirpates: I just bought an Epiphone 12 string – they still make GREAT guitars and amazingly reasonable price. They’re owned by Gibson, and Gibson has done a great job of making the brand terrific.
Johnny and Edgar Winter grew up across town from me. Everyone in town knew they were something special.

I saw him at the Oriental theatre in North Denver about 2007….Maybe a 100 seat venue…UNBELIEVABLE!!!!….

I’ve got Interstate 69 running through my neck of the woods but it’s not as fun as it sounds.

I fell down hard last week, but luckily my fall was broken by my left hand ring finger. That’s the worst case scenario for a guitar player. Chords are painful, and I’m worried about causing worse injury if I play lead.
The only thing I’ve been able to do on guitar since then is play slide. It’s been a blast. I’m looking forward to playing straight guitar again, but it’s like anything else – it’s what you make of it.
When Iwas a kid in the mid seventies the brothers played a festival in the park behind my parents house. My friend and I where allowed on the side stage for the shows.(really groovy for us kids)Out comes the Winters and freaked me out, first albino experience, great music. The cigarettes puffed that night didn’t smell like the ones my granny smoked.

I always look forward to the Blues musical contributions on the weekend. This is one of my favorites, for more than one reason. I like Boz Skaggs, I like Duane Allman, I really like the Muscle Shoals Studio, and I like a series of still photos better than high intensity video.
This took me a ride on the way back machine.
I had the pleasure of seeing Johnny Winters in a “small” venue in Champaign, IL. Exceptional talent !!!
Thanks for the ride MJA !!!

Netflix had an excellent documentary on Johnny Winter, also Janis Joplin, Miles Davis. I’m watching the Sinatra one now.
Still use a red Epi like that one.
