‘Americans no longer have to be guilty to be stripped of their property, rights and liberties’
It’s been called by some “a modern-day form of highway robbery,” but the Supreme Court nevertheless has gone along with it.
It’s the practice by police of using delay tactics when they confiscate cash, jewelry, cars and other valuables from people who sometimes are completely innocent of any offense.
They are “asset forfeiture” cases and often involve no criminal charge against the property owner, according to a report from the Rutherford Institute, which fights in America’s courts for constitutional, religious and civil rights.
The latest high court action came in a 6-3 decision in Culley v. Marshall, where the justices held that there are “no due process protections for citizens in asset forfeiture proceedings to have an early court hearing to contest the government keeping possession of their seized property while they await trial.” more
Well, if even the clowns in gowns aren’t on our side, we are clearly on our own.
My concern is that they have been motivating a bunch of “Tim McVeigh” clones and innocents will lose their lives as a result. Not one bit smart, cute or funny.

Our Constitution was designed to ensure equal justice for all, not the “Hunter Bidens” and such having free rein hile the “little people” suffer under the boot of a tyrannical government. There are “
Little people” who will slap back w/o regard to any consequences and that is not a good population to disregard when they are motivated by righteous indignation and fueled by blind rage.
This kind of thing puts everyone at risk of being caught up in the middle. Both sides are wrong and as always the innocent who had no responsibility suffer.
Sam, there’s plenty of good reason for fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Sure there are good cops, but between the bad and bad judges FUD is alive and well.

So much for the “conservative Supreme Court”. This worries me, because there are several pending 2A cases SCOTUS will be deciding this year.
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches AND SEIZURES, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and PARTICULARLY describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things, to be seized.”

Further proof (if any were needed) that the Constitution is a dead letter.

FYI the 3 dissents were the 3 libs. All 6 ‘conservatives’, including Thomas and Alito, are the majority. I am surprised as well, but perhaps there is some other understanding of it.

Don’t carry anything the police can confiscate from you, even if you’re in a relatively “safe” area is the message I get from this story. Find alternative means to transfer wealth and keep all registrations and receipts handy if you are transporting goods of any value.

so, never carry too much cash. That’s what financial institutions are made for.
