During the roll call, it was noted that 429 members were present to cast their votes: 220 were Republicans, with one member absent, while 209 were Democrats, with three absentees. Johnson achieved the 220 out of 215 votes needed to claim the sought-after Speaker’s gavel.

Just hours before the pivotal vote, Johnson took to social media platform X to make a powerful, patriotic statement. Displaying an image of the American flag, with time-honored phrase “IN GOD WE TRUST.” more. h/t Catturd.

  1. Good for him. From all appearances, he seems like the real deal. Now, Gaetz and his merry band of malcontents need to STFU, and get back to work. We still got big problems to tackle; border security, telling Ukraine to FOAD, but mostly, all these dudes need a crash course in econ 101 and learn the value of a dollar.

  2. You know what would be awesome?

If he started his Speakership by declining an invitation to the White House, responding with “I will accept such an invitation when it is extended by the legitimate President of the United States, Donald Trump”.

  3. Hope this works.

They can work on legislation… but they can work on GOP legislation (which would never get passed but which would make a statement) or they can work on uniparty legislation, which would be bad. They can also work on impeachment of several people, release remaining J6 tapes, etc.
So which version are we going to see???

  4. I’m shocked….shocked I tell ya! I cant believe we have a speaker that appears to be a conservative. Granted he has to prove himself but this seems like a step in the right direction. Among his priorities should be looking into the Biden crime family and releasing the J6 tapes.

  8. as the current and real head of the Republican party, thanks go to POTUS Trump for his unvarnished warning to all the GOP. He holds the votes needed to get any of them elected or reelected.

    thank you, God.

  9. The new Speaker sounds fantastic. A genuine patriot. His task is to prove it. Take care of The Peoples business first- cut off Xiden’s extortion payments to Ukraine and pay off to Hamas for committing atrocities against Isreal to start a war. Next, CLOSE the border. Open the Keystone and other premium US oil rich pipelines.
Then, will Biden is trying to figure out which door to exit January 2024, hit him with arrest warrants for him and his idiot deviant son, Hunter for treason.
That will convince me this Speaker of the House is effective. Able to convince moderate Democrats, if necessary to vote with Republicans to get the right things done – not making deals with the devil like McCarthy. We’ll see. The proof is in the pudding.

  11. Before getting all giddy, remember: he’s a politician.
He may be the greatest pick in the House, but that’s like being the least-smelly turd in the cesspool.
