How can they miss Theresa May if she doesn’t leave?

Breitbart Europe: Interim Prime Minister for Life? May Will Only Go If Successor Has ‘Confidence’ of MPs.

Reports of Theresa May’s political demise may have been exaggerated, with her spokesman revealing that, while her time as Conservative Party leader is set to come to an end on Friday, she will remain as prime minister until she “believes that someone else can command the confidence” of MPs.

British prime ministers are not directly elected by the people, with prospective candidates instead being invited to serve by the monarch, generally on the assumption that they can command a parliamentary majority or at least muster enough support on key issues to execute a legislative programme.

In modern times, this has typically been the MP who leads the party with the largest number of seats in the House of Commons, although the role has in the past fallen to members of the House of Lords and MPs who were able to form a majority through a party coalition or with factional support across parties.

This means prime ministers who lose the support of the parties or factions which back them, or who choose to stand down voluntarily, can be replaced between elections, as in the case of Tony Blair and Margaret Thatcher. more here

  1. It truly is a miracle of American Exceptionalism that we were able to craft so perfect a form of government given the complete POS examples we had to go on from these assclowns. Britons claim to be free, but succumb to actual mob rule in the House of Commons, still have literal hereditary Lords ruling over them, and the PM has to OK’ed by a lovable but nonagenarian Queen. What could go wrong?

These boneheads didn’t even have a decimalised monetary system until the 70’s.

  2. I can see her point if they haven’t scheduled a party convention to allow the party members a chance to vote on a new leader. The other way is for the party MP’s to vote on a new leader but so far nobody has actually come forward to apply for the job (at lease I don’t think so). The worrying thing is that whether she thinks it’s up to her to decide who would command the votes and have the confidence of the MP’s (screw the people I guess).
