My dad’s guard dog Chico at his gas station learned the hard way once snapping at a porcupine with his mouth wide open. One of my brothers had to hold Chico’s head still while my dad pulled the quills with a pair of dikes out of his nose and his mouth. He never did that again.

I also had to change a couple of tires once at my dad’s gas station for a customer who had hit a porcupine while driving and flattened his tires.
