How Much is Yelling “F*** You, Copper” Worth? – IOTW Report

How Much is Yelling “F*** You, Copper” Worth?

Apparently it’ll get you 25k.

A bicyclist rode by a cop and flipped him the bird and yelled “fuck you, copper.” The thin-skinned cop followed the guy for way too long and then seized upon his opportunity to ride up  on the sidewalk and mess up the guys knees.

  1. I wouldn’t try that here in Albuquerque. APD is constantly under FBI investigation for psychotic behavior. If I yelled, “Fuck you, copper!” I’ll guarantee I wouldn’t be alive to file a complaint.

  2. In response, the cyclist called the Lone Tree Police Department, which subsequently charged the trooper with three counts: official oppression, first degree official misconduct and “third degree assault on Justice [the cyclist’s last name].”

The complaint goes on to accuse the trooper with false arrest, excessive force and First Amendment retaliation for protected speech and demanded a jury trial.

How many citizens could get charged with five offenses including felonies but no jail time, keep your job carrying a gun(s) and with taxpayers (citizens) paying just $25,000?

  3. State troopers are usually the most mentally stable of all the cops. Evidently it is becoming harder and harder to find mentally stable people to fill the ranks.

  4. i ‘m dismayed at the hatred for cops shown today… but i’m also dismayed at what passes for cops. to be captain obvious i’ll say there are 2 types of officers, the ones that do it for the right reasons and ones that do it for the wrong. good ones do it to try and make a difference for the better and actually know the laws and respect other’s rights. we know the constitution and are paying attention to the words we say when we affirm to uphold it. bad ones are the type that constantly need their egoes stroked, walk around with an “obama” personality, tortured pets as a kid, perpetual chip on the shoulder, etc. none of us have blue tights with an S on it under our uniforms. we are as human as anyone else and therefore will make mistakes from time to time… but the good ones learn from them. just like anyone else we have our own personal problems and discomforts to deal with while dealing with the problems of others on a 12 hour shift. go on shift at 6 pm get off at 6 am then be in court by 9 am ( on court days ) ond out by 3 just to go back on shift by 6 again. i don’t expect any more respect than i give. i ‘ve stopped cars for burned out headlights ( warning only) and went over the next to replace the bulb for the older person. i could go on but if your attn. span is like mine you ‘re tured of reading this. i do not want or require a pat on the back for my goid deeds and i expect to be held accountable for the times i mess up. this just to say all officers are not bad, but it only takes one drop of arsenic to poison the whole well.

  5. Okay. If someone in my family said they got thumped for yelling “f u” to a cop, I’d tell them they got what was coming to them.

On another note, why doesn’t sterling hire this attorney to sue the NBA for violating his right to free speech?
