DML: Hurricane Matthew was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone on Sunday. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 75 mph.

The storm continues to generate record-breaking flooding in eastern North Carolina.

The storm has taken 19 lives in the U.S. The state-by-state death toll so far is: North Carolina, 8 deaths; Georgia, 4 deaths; Florida, 6 deaths; and South Carolina, 1 death.

As of late Saturday, there were also four people missing in Cumberland County in North Carolina.

Below is video taken by a kayaker which shows how deep the water is in Fayetteville. The first video shows a dramatic rescue of people getting rescued from atop of their SUV.  MORE

  1. a friend of mine lives on Merritt Island. He evacuated. Got back Saturday afternoon and found no storm surge affects. Power was back on too. Only had a couple small trees that were downed. He said the biggest winds came from the weather forecaster blowhards.

    Yep, take what they say and believe maybe half.
    We are 30 miles as the crow flies from the ocean, maybe 2 miles from a sizable river.
    It never entered my mind to leave. 50 gal of drinking water, 50 gals of flushing water.
    Kayaks tied down in the yard, We have had stronger tropical storms, granted the hurricane lasted longer but no lightening. Power was off 34 hours, didn’t even have to change the batteries in our flashlights.
    It’s like a prize fight, all hype, blowhards indeed.
