Looks like a Mercury.
I’m thinking the Montego platform from mid/late 70’s.
She’ll be even more humbled by the gas that thing uses as well as the repair costs. Nice thought, though. Hey, maybe she’ll be entreprenureal and use the wagon to haul things for hire.
I just got rear-ended in my new car by a 10yo driving “her mom’s 25yo car” with 4 bald tires… I mean down to the threads! No wonder she couldn’t stop on the wet rainy steet!! The real question is what responsiible parent puts their kid in a death-trap like that?!?!?!
Same here with this thing. At whatever the age is who knows how safe it is?
Keep it, save it for the future. It will be a collector in a few years.
’72 for some reason
69 Vista Cruiser I believe.
I don’t think I’d give a teenage girl a “Shaggin Waggon”.
Yes I love the idea too. Our local high school looks like Hollywood High School. The kids drive much more expensive rides than the teachers. Completer with Raptors, every kind of BMW and Mercedes, and about 10 G wagons. I realized early on this is a competition between the parents. What’s this teaching the kids? Good on this parent. Hell I had to buy my own car.
1970 ford squirs town and country station wagon…
I had a 4 door 55 Chevy station wagon that I bought for $100 in 1971 just before my Senior year in HS. And my dad as a graduation present bought me 4 new bias ply tires for it. It was a great car, and I wish that I had kept it as aging baby boomers are paying premium prices now for cars of that vintage so they can relive their youth.
Down thread someone asked @Grok, which replied:
It sure looks bigger than a Pinto to me, though.
The shape of the front end and hood looks similar to my 88 Town Car so I say Mercury 86-89 maybe?
69 Vista Cruiser.

Nope, not a Vista Cruiser.
Wrong roofline, no little “vista” windows up there.
1977 Mercury Cougar Villager station wagon.
What do I win?
It’s a Ford, but not Pinto.
Go here and look for yourself:

It’s a 1977 Mercury Cougar Villager station wagon.
Ring-Ring-Ri..AAGH! Thump.
(dead ringer)
@GM — Sure looks like a match, sir! You win our everlasting esteem. That and 1e12 iOTWbucks will get you a Starbucks napkin!
Shit. I forgot Uncle Al was conceived in the back of the prototype Vista Cruiser back in 1932. LOL
didn’t clark griswald used to own that?
LOL! Nah, it would’ve been something like a 1946 Chevy Fleetline.
In the early 1980s, our hang gliding troupe’s main vehicle was a Vista Cruiser. It could transport six pilots, six (or more) gliders, and all our flight gear (harnesses, helmets, first aid kits, splints, stretchers). Good times!
I forgot body bags.

To damn funny buddy. I love yah.
I donāt remember the year but we had a a 60 something Rambler station wagon with a push button transmission. It covered a lot of miles. I think I left it in Buffalo, NY after picking up some ATVās, loading them on a flatbed and driving to Alaska. Those were the days!
You think you hate it now, wait ’til you drive it.
’69 Torino Squire Station Wagon
I imagine it’s the only insurance she can afford to pay.
Uncle Al – full disclosure. I won by pointing my Android phone with Google Lens at the screen! But no backsies on my prize. I already used it to wipe coffee dribble on my chin! š¤£
It looks like Clark Griswold’s “family truckster”:

It just needs a dog leash on the rear bumper and granny on the roof.
Whatever it is, I hope it has the pop up, rear facing seats, so she and a friend can watch a drive in movie without the window glass. Memories . . .
PS, I still have an old 92 Camry wagon that runs and gets 25MPG. Was planning on saving it for my 13yo son. Now that I have been alerted to the āShaggenā possibilities, will be looking for something else.
Old Coot hit that on the head. Station wagons have one absolutely fantastic feature, very noticeable when one gives it some thought, for a sixteen year old anyone at all.
