ICYMI- Archaeologists Identify Remains of the Early Colonists of Jamestown

AncientOrigins– Scientists conducting a chemical analysis of four skeletons, with the support of information from historical documents, have now identified them as leaders of the first permanent English settlement on the American continent at Jamestown in Virginia.

The discovery was announced at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. which has been helping the team of archaeologists to identify the four men, who were of high status and played pivotal roles in their community. When they died they were buried at the Protestant Church in Jamestown, built in 1608; the same site where Captain John Rolfe married Pocahontas.Their bodies have now been discovered near the altar. Two of them had been buried in ornate coffins, although the bodies themselves were in a fairly poor state of preservation.

The site has been the subject of continued investigation since 1994 when the James Fort, which was believed to have been lost to the nearby James River, was rediscovered.  More

  1. B Hussien Obama immediately released a press statement in which he said “let me make this perfectly clear they were the first bitter clingers-those who cling to their Guns and Religion” and not one of them looked like my son!

  2. leftists academia have rewritten history in our text books and media. They’ve sanitized, warped and disrespected the early settlers, founders and constitution.

And now the Ultimate disrespect of the dead, dig ’em up and disturb their rest in peace.

No number of tests, prodding, x-rays or technology will ever shine light upon the life they lived and the hardships they endured as was seen through their eyes.

Leave the dead alone, they have earned their rest in peace.

Reason enough to be cremated and scattered to high heaven.

  3. I totally agree. Who gave these Ghouls permission to disturb a cemetery and exhume bodies for study. I have relatives buried at Jamestown and certainly don’t appreciate the fact that they may become lab specimens to satisfy someone’s morbid curiosity or for a Doctoral Dissertation! They bother my relatives and I will sue them royally!

  4. Darn. Forgot my history. This pertains to the second colony at Jamestown. I was thinking that it pertained to the first colony at Roanoke. Too bad. Now THERE would be a historian’s dream, to find out the answer to “Croatan”.
