Idaho: It is now a crime to help minors travel for abortions without parental consent

MRN: Idaho Republican Governor Brad Litte has signed the “Abortion Trafficking” Bill into Law. The bill was signed into law on Wednesday and is set to go into effect in 30 days.

NPR’s Sarah McCammon shared:

“NEW: Idaho Governor Brad Little has signed a law prohibiting transporting a minor to get an abortion. That comes as abortion rights groups are suing Idaho’s attorney general over an opinion designed to block healthcare providers from referring patients out of state for abortion.” more

  1. How do you prove someone had an abortion in Massachusetts or New York? HIPPA regulations prevent you from even asking. A now-not-pregnant woman returns from out-of-state. Prove she didn’t have a miscarriage without access to her personal health records.

It’s stupid to pass unenforceable laws.

  2. I don’t see how this isn’t a number of crimes. Anything done to a minor without parental consent (transporting across state lines (or at all), ‘medical’ procedures, etc.) SHOULD ALREADY be a crime
