Howie Carr: If I ever get jammed up, I ask for no special consideration.
Just treat me like a Mass. State trooper.
Steal thousands from the taxpayers, get caught red-handed, show zero remorse and do no prison time — what a racket!
White privilege? I want to get me some of that MSP privilege.
The latest example of this appalling kid-glove treatment for criminal state cops is six more crooked former troopers agreeing to civil settlements to repay tens of thousands of dollars they “embezzled” by putting in for overtime hours they never worked out on the Turnpike.
This latest story got no coverage, except by one local TV station, Channel 5.
I’m glad the details of the broom job got out. But the TV station neglected to mention the most appalling part of the troopers’ daylight heist, which is the fact that they get to keep their bloated pensions.
What a sweet deal — after this literal highway robbery, they are allowed to “retire” without consequence. Some even go out on “disability,” wink wink, nudge nudge. more
My Boss lost his pension as a retried CSM after being caught embezzling form AAFES. Then again, when my mother first went to work for the federal govt you couldn’t get a job in any facet of government unless and until you were bonded. It is high time public employees had to be bonded in order to qualify for any government job.
Don’t talk to me about “Back the Blue” until these guys are BLACK and BLUE.
Ahhh, Massachusetts.
What he lost was currently $2,800 per month plus COLA and full medical for he and his wife and Commissary privileges for life and that was in ~ 1983 or 1984.
When I first went to work on Ft Lewis in 1978 if I needed a light bulb all I had to do is ask the right person in supply and they would offer me a case of light bulbs. When Reagan cam into office there was a directive that went out telling everyone on Ft Lewis that the days of it being the wild west were over and there would be zero tolerance from here on out.
Not all cops are heroes…..
Too bad, some people are capable of controlling their morals and WAY TOO MANY are not.
I can understand not taking their pensions, but the penalties should have been: 1) repay what you stole, 2) $50K – $100K fine, 3) two-to-three community service hours for every hour of overtime you fraudulently put in for.
Didn’t we learn this in the movie The Depahted?
My father or a friend who owned a business (I forget which, it was long ago) had a woman embezzle a sizeable chunk. IIRC north of $250K. When the judge ordered restitution the Goddamned daughter had the nerve to say: I don’t see why she has to pay it back, she is going to prison for a year. She figured it was stolen fair and square and that it therefor belonged to her. She had no comprehension of someone having a legal right to getting that money back.
Lucky thing was the woman’s family had quite a few assets. She was more than happy to gamble off someone else’s money, but not her own.
Humans are humans.
That’s exactly why I don’t care for most of them.

“It is high time public employees had to be bonded in order to qualify for any government job.”
That, of course would be RACIST! I don’t need to explain why.
