Election results this morning show strong support for the idea of splitting Illinois into two states. Voters approved referendums on the topic in Brown County by 77%, Hardin County by 76%, and two townships in Madison County (Lee 75% and New Douglas 68%).

But would “New Illinois” escape old Illinois’ public pension debt obligation? Doubtful.
We Communists will never let you go or leave you alone.
We OWN you.
I live in southern Illinois (20 miles from the Kentucky border). Believe me, there’s not a soul down here that wouldn’t jump at that chance. There are 102 counties in this state, and there have been elections where the D candidate only won 1 – Cook County and still won the state. We have no voice in anything that goes on here and never will. Splitting the state is our only hope, and there is ZERO chance that will ever happen
A few more counties in Oregon voted on Tuesday to join New Idaho movement.
The same needs to happen in Eastern WA.
New Idaho would be the righty outpost like Florida and it’d be the size of Texas.
I’ll probably be a thousand years old till that happens-but dare to dream.
It would be a shame if various Illinois counties stopped supplying energy to Chicago this winter.
Back in the 70s, while residing in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, I heard this many times.
Chicago is the beast wielding too much power over the rest of the state.
Considering how large and corrupt Cook county is, it’s mafia rule for everyone in Il.
Something’s gotta change there. I support this movement, even though my opinion means nada.
We all know there is NO fucking way s IL, eastern OR & WA, n CA…you name it would ever be allowed to go their own way.
It’s not just the revenue loss or as noted, the share of pension
fraud for those remaining in IL would skyrocket(excellent point) The fact is REgressives as the saying goes, would rather rule over ashes than allow anyone under their control to have freedom.
Now extrapolate that reality nationally when the dollar is no longer the reserve currency. IOW when the “free” money being doled out can’t buy a can of cat food, just what do you think will happen in blue AOs? People can’t walk the streets or catch an El ride without eyes in the back of their head now, imagine when there are 0 restraints.
I know I don’t want to be in one and 1 ferry ride away is god forsaken Seattle.

It’d be a shame if various Illinoisans stopped the supply of energy to Chicago this winter.
