Illinois lawmaker targets Jesse Jackson Jr.’s workers’ comp

Chicago Sun Times:

WASHINGTON — The law allowing former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., to collect about $100,000 a year in workers’ compensation, even though he pleaded guilty to looting his campaign fund, is wrong and needs to be changed, Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Ill., told the Chicago Sun-Times.

“I believe if you’re a member of Congress and you are convicted of stealing campaign funds, you should not be eligible to receive workers’ compensation benefits. Members of Congress need to be good stewards of taxpayer money,” Davis said.

  1. Illinois the 3rd most corrupt state in the Nation, with a long history (150 years) of corruption/pay to play, insider contracts and slating candidates before the primaries.
The state Senate, House, Attorney General and Chicago are all democrats. The speaker of the House, Mike Madigan is also the Democratic State Chairman, his daughter is Attorney General.
The Governor, a Republican, cannot get a budget passed for the past two years because the democrats refuse to cut spending even though Illinois runs a $10 Billion deficit each year and cumulative debt of $155,000,000,000. High taxes, High property taxes, High worker compensation costs, High salaries, high business regulations, approx. 20% of the citizens on food stamps.
And Illinois wonders why people and businesses are leaving the state.
Yet the convicted felon, Democrat Jesse Jackson Jr. Continues to receive political payback for being a good democrat for over $100,000/yr — who says crime doesn’t pay, it does in Illinois !
Welcome to the Socialist Republic of Illinois, where they exhibit no shame for the lack of honesty and integrity in Government.

  2. I wish i had my life changing injury in Chicago. The maximum you could receive in workers comp for my year of injury ( 05′ ) is $678.00 a week. It doesn’t matter how much you made. If some fella was making a cool million a year, his max would still be $678.00 a week.

  3. “… the people get the government they deserve.”

The fact that the Illinoisians (?) haven’t dragged them out and hanged them is proof that corruption is their (collective) desire – or, at least, not unbearable.

Plant wheat, reap wheat. Plant corn, harvest corn.
Tolerate lies and corruption, get more lies and corruption.

    izlamo delenda est …

  4. This district in Illinois is so corrupt that Jackson didn’t even run for office during his last election, since he was in rehab in Arizona during the campaign season, but he still won.

  5. Corruption. Under Illinois WC law, any “normal” claimant in Jackson’s glowing good health with elusive “psychological distress” would be promptly assigned a Wal Mart greeter’s job, with the “accommodation” of an optional chair and extra break-room time.

Send him back to the pen.
