Impeachment Trial: Trump’s Team Begin Opening Arguments

President Donald Trump’s legal team on Saturday morning will begin its opening arguments in Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate

Though Trump’s team has 24 hours over three days to present their arguments, they are not expected to use all of their allotted time. They will likely present a preview for about three hours on Saturday morning and resume their opening arguments on Monday.

Updates at Breitbart.

And from Conservative Treehouse:

There will be 24 hours of presentation by House Impeachment Managers (over 3 days); 24 hours of presentation by Defense team (over 3 days); 16 hours of Senate questioning; 4 hours of closing arguments, equally divided; and then a Senate debate/vote on further motions to include witnesses. If there are going to be witnesses, they will first be deposed prior to testimony. No witness testimony will be permitted without first being deposed.

  1. Hope the Republicans stay unified and come on stronger against the Democrats than they usually do.

Their approach to them ever since Clinton, as near as I can tell, has been a go along to get along surrender strategy. It’s really been kind of rare for them to stand up against them in unison.

  2. If the RINOs cannot end the Shampeachment with the destruction of the Democrat party they will also face execution as traitors after the civil war that is sure to follow. We have a lot of pikes that need adornment.

Many real Americans will not permit this coup attempt to succeed.

  3. Watching it right now. All speakers, so far, have summarized statements by the Democrats. For each statement, they have stated what was said, called them false, and backed that up by facts.

Will the left understand facts vs. emotion? I doubt it. But we can have hope that there are enough who are really listening just might have the light bulb go off over their heads.

  4. It took just 2 hours for the president’s lawyers to eviscerate the house managers and their accusations, though I think the house manager’s own presentation has done more than enough damage to their own case.

Pelosi and her team were never serious about removing the president. All they wanted was sound bits for their campaign commercials this fall.

  5. I got to watch a little of Mr. Sekulow jamming the Mueller report into their faces. I liked what he was saying, but you need to keep eye contact with your jury, and he mostly didn’t do that since he was hunting for things and reading and such.

I do not envy him, though, since the “jury” is a bunch of bored political hacks. If I could see the room from his angle, I suspect I’d see a bunch of Democrats with their fingers figuratively in their ears with no interest in any facts, a bunch of Republicans wanting me to really blow the Democrats up to give them political cover to do the right thing, Mitt Romney glowering more with every word and cursing the House managers under his breath for not giving him anything to work with when he eventually votes with the Democrats out of personal hatred for the President anyway, and Murkowski, Collins, and Snowe looking uncomfortable at the prospect especially since Nadler started out insulting them, but planning to go ahead and vote to keep their jobs over God and Country once again like they always do.

…so, the only people REALLY listening to him are the RINOs.

And THAT’S only because they’re hoping he steps on his dick enough to give them a reason for treason…

    Quick calculation:
67 votes needed to remove the President from office.
Dems guarenteed to vote in lockstep and without regard for reality, so 45 votes right away.

2 more votes, because “independants” ALWAYS break Democrat, \
    =47 votes.

    Snowe, Collins, Murkowski, DEFINITELY Romney,
    =51 votes.

Never really trusted McSally, given who she replaced, so maybe 1

    =52 votes.

    They need 15 more.

    Think they’ll get them?

…I’ve always said the problem with a Civil War is that no one tells you when it starts.
…In this case, however, I’d say it starts at 67.

    If it gets there.

…in a way, I kind of hope it DOES, it’s LONG past when we should have gotten this party started for REAL, and there’s only ONE way it can end, sooner or later, because they will NOT stop unless they ARE stopped.

President Trump is the ONLY one on EITHER side who can lose the war in a day.

The Democrats will simply move on to the next lie…

  6. As much as we would like the Lefties in this country who, by the way, will NEVER vote for POTUS Trump in 2020, despite the facts of the case, the decision is the senate’s to bear. And it is Chief Justice Roberts to decide. But even if it was not, the majority of Americans are not buying what Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler and Schiff are selling. POTUS Trump’s approval numbers went up 3 points last week and Americans’ interest in listening to Schiff went down over each successive day of their Senate trial. Schiff and the rest of the troupe was not compelling tee vee. More people probably tuned in to “My 600 Pound Life” than watched Jerrold Nadler in real life.

My own view is that Americans will appreciate the absence of theatrics and heart-string sniffles in something as important as an impeachment trial. The Democrats have — once again — underestimated the sobriety of Americans who are deeply concerned about such matters. They have misjudged — once again — that men and women know when they are being emotionally manipulated.

Only fools see what they want to see and hear what they want to hear. A majority of Americans are not fools and they cannot be judged stupid or ignorant because they have not been given the facts. Today and next week, they will be given the facts.

  7. Here in Richmond both ABC and CBS carried impeachment this morning. NBC was on an animal show.
I called and blasted them for their obvious bias.

They switched to impeachment over by 10:15 and actually called me back apologizing for their ‘technical difficulty’. Hahahaha.

  8. Straight, simple arguments presented in a linear fashion.

I really was amazed that CNN aired it.

Made the Democrat’s arguments seem weak and convoluted.
