Inspector General report finds that some USPS workers have been stealing mail

Just The News

Afederal investigation has shown that workers at the United States Postal Service (USPS) have been stealing peoples’ mail.

According to a report from the USPS Inspector General, internal mail theft is happening due to manager vacancies and having employees not trained properly to identify theft.

The report also states that criminal organizations are recruiting people who work at USPS to infiltrate the system.

USPS Inspector General Tammy L. Hull said that criminal groups are “targeting, recruiting, and colluding with postal employees to move narcotics through the postal network and to steal checks — both personal and government-issued checks — credit cards, and other valuables from the mail.” more

  1. A few years back people here in GA. were ordering ars from different online sales. When the packages went thru ATL the labels were changed and the packages were delivered to a different address which were abandoned homes.

  3. They have hired a significant number of those who cannot read or write. So if your letter gets kicked out of the automated sorter, it can take weeks or months to finally get the letter delivered.

  5. I returned a credit card through the mail. I dropped it in the box inside the post office. A few days later I received a text from the company about someone trying to use the card (it was being deactivated anyway). Either someone from the postal service or someone at the credit card company opened the “it’s obvious what’s inside” envelope.

  6. My wife worked at a private cafeteria/food service operation within the walls of a general mail facility in Orange County, CA. She was told by many employees that the workers steal, especially around Christmas and graduation time. They specifically steal the colored envelopes that cards come in, hoping the get cash. They hide the envelopes in the smocks they wear to protect their clothes from all the paper dust, and then go into the bathrooms to open them. They then throw the envelopes/cards into a random bin and the recipient gets the card marked “found open in transit.” And yet most think that the mail is too important to let accountable private businesses handle it. LOL Government = theft (by definition).

  7. The Post Office is an employment program for inner city shits who would not otherwise be employable. And being inner city shits: they steal with abandon – not that every democrat in government is any better!

  8. A small group of black postal workers in Beaumont, Texas were recently convicted in federal court of stealing over $3 million worth of mail and packages. Theft is a way of life for those bastards.

  9. I live in SC now (28% blk) and was pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago to see a yt woman postal employee at my local CVS… The thing is though, my regular delivery person is a very nice Blk woman who is always pleasant and as far as I know none of my mail has been tampered with. Of course SC carried PDJT the last three cycles.

  10. I ordered 30 pieces of 3′ chainsaw pull cord and some fool cut a hole in the envelope and stole one of the 10-cord bags.
Dumb son-of-a-bitch was probably greatly disappointed.

I hope he (she?) thought it was spaghetti and choked to death trying to eat it.
Not really, of course, but I hope the thought passed through its simple mind that it risked its job for 10 pieces of string.

Also, wondering if porch pirates are sometimes the mail carriers.
